Testimony of a first lowkite experience by Melvann with the Plus V2.

First steps on a +12L wingboard

“Yesterday I had the chance to test the GONG Lowkite Plus V2. Huge thanks again to Frédéric Huet (note: GONG ambassador) for that and for your trust.

I’ve been thinking for several weeks about getting one, because my favorite discipline is free fly with a wing, but we all know it’s still quite bulky. My biggest fear was having to change gear again (at least for starting out).

For reference, I weigh 80 kg. I've been doing wing and pump foiling for just over a year at a good level, but I’ve never touched a kite.

After a few land drills and watching YouTube tutorials, I went on the water with the same setup as in wing:

Cruz Point 6’0 92L
Veloce M front wing
Veloce S stab & +1 shim (for even more glide)
HM77 15mm mast.”

First flights and first jibes

“After 15–20 minutes figuring out how to position myself, where to place my hands, and how to orient the Lowkite, I finally managed to take off about ten times in 15–17 knots with a 4m. I did several runs and even nailed my first jibe attempt.

After winging and pumping, it’s just incredible to rediscover our sport once again from a new angle. And above all with gear that’s compatible across all disciplines.

I finished the session exhausted but convinced by the project and the sail. Sure, with bigger gear it would have been easier, but it shows the accessibility of the Plus V2.”
