FEEDBACK: FRONT WING FLUID XL-S

Nice feedback with honesty and humility from Jeanse who had a first taste of the sensations of freeflying with the Fluid XL-S.
“Hello,
Here’s a little feedback with the HIPE 2022 5’3, Fluid XL-S front wing + Curve 43 stab, V2 85cm carbon mast and 85kg rider.
First session
First session in Venezuela, perhaps the first wing foiler on this spot, not easy: choppy with 1m swell, fairly narrow entrance between the reefs, and shoals sometimes offshore. Fortunately, the wind is not bad, around 12-22 knots. I take advantage of my girls nap to get in the water and try out the gear.
Getting over the shore break is done without too much trouble (if I do not talk about my swimsuit which came undone and fell on my knees ?), and the lightness of the gear facilitates the maneuver.
However, I feel like I’m starting all over again. The Fluid XL-S pitches up, jumps and stalls. It takes me at least 15 min to start flying and stabilize the flight. It requires more glide to take off and the stance must be more precise (compared to the Curve XL-T and L-T).
“Faster take-off”
I struggle on the first jibes that end in ridiculous crashes. Then, I start to tame it, faster takeoff, with more forward pumping to gain glide, it takes off quite well. The jibes success rate rises, even if I’m on eggshells, change of feet… when I start to feel a little more comfortable, I try to surf this big swell that taunts me, and there, finally I discover the freefly!! Wow! Not very comfortable yet but the feeling is incredible!
As always, I love the tranquility and silence of the foil, the breathtaking view from the sea over the landscape; the hills of Caruao, the pelicans that pass by and the fish that sometimes jump in front of the board.
I can understand the name of the Fluid, the glide is great. It will take me a couple more sessions to be totally comfortable with it but I’m really happy with it. Thank you Patrice Guénolé for designing gear that allows us to have fun, Cyril, GONG technical advisor, and to the community for the advice on choosing gear with the Fluid XL-S. Good luck to all.”
