Feedback on the Fluid XXL-S that David has added to his quiver for surf foil and dock start sessions.

Surf foiler : Malo, GONG team rider, on the Fluid XXL-T with a Lethal Made In La France.

“I tested a friend’s 1750cm² Fluid XXL-S during a dock start session and I immediately gained a whole lot of distance. Especially thanks to its tolerance which forgives goofy movements when pumping. I was first trying to dock start on my Fluid XL-T that I use for wing foiling. It was going a bit faster but a tiny mistake would result in an instant crash. The XL-T is perfect in lightwind though when wing foiling but I needed more for dock start (I’m 85 kg).

It made me take a Fluid XXL-S in my quiver to surf foil tiny waves. It takes off very quickly which helps not touching the bottom when waves are super tiny. Its forgiveness is awesome to recover from a loss of balance or to put your feet in perfect position after a wobbly take off. This front wing offers respite! We have time to get into rhythm and see where we are going. On the wave I found the classic characteristics of the Fluid, an ultra smooth rail to rail and good speed despite its XXL dimensions. It just gets a bit too big in hollow waves with power but when surf foiling you can cruise away from the power zone.

I have a set-up with a Fluid stab and the HM 70 mast which makes a big difference on a front wing of this size which generates a lot of effort on the entire foil. It is a gain of tolerance yet again, no more parasitic movement or twist. The sensations of the foil are felt directly in the legs and the legs send the instructions directly to the foil. Awesome!”
