Strapless frontside air with grab
A board with a foil offers that little extra inertia that allows you to try airs with an unfavorable wind. On a shortboard, you need a light onshore wind to make the board stick to your feet. On surf foiling gear, you can try an air with a light offshore wind and even strapless!

As for an air with straps, you need to hit the lip while making the board pop with your back leg. Note Malo’s outstretched leg at the moment of the takeoff before regrouping his body on the following images above the board. He then grabs the toeside rail which helps him to keep the board under his feet.
To perform this move you have to hit the lip with a decent speed, which in foiling is generally not a problem… Take a fairly high line and project yourself down the line to give you every chance of finishing in front of the wave. When landing, stay well above your board keeping a low center of gravity to handle the wild whitewater and the resumption of flight. And thanks to surf foiling, even a tiny wave can be appropriate to achieve this move 😉
