Riding with a harness

Riding without a Harness is sexy because it makes you feel free. We can move in all the directions, and it is very comfortable. On the other hand, you have to ride underpowered to not rip out your arms. It means having to pump often to take-off. On the other hand, if you like to ride overpowered, the use of a Harness is almost mandatory if you want to spend more time on the water. In this case, Harness lines are super easy to install, (see our How To “mounting a harness connector”).

The important thing to remember is that the Wing pulls your arms upwards: it’s not you who holds the Wing up, except under 8/10 knots. But in the wind you have to hold it. But the structure of the Wings being inflatable, allows it to take on the heavier efforts for you. This is also what limits its maximum performance.

We advise you to use a harness that is as soft and that fully wraps around you, with a windsurf-type hook. With lighter bits of 24 to 28cm (10 to 12 inches) because heavy bits of windsurfing can hurt your face.
