Program
Produce beautiful curves in all types of waves. Pure shortboard but easy to paddle and easy in the chop.
Presentation
The Karmen FSP PRO are handy shortboards, with that little hybrid/egg touch that makes them super easy.
100% intended for curves : rollers, top turns, slashes, powerful cut backs, airs and pushing waves, it turns very short and on demand. Ideal for producing aggressive surfing but always maintaining good paddling and comfort.
The greatest quality of Patrice Guénolé’s shapes is harmony. Its ability to merge and match shaping elements is exceptional. The boards are beautiful to the eye, without excess. And that’s where we recognize the touch of a great shaper.
Two main axes of work guided the development of the Karmen: the rounded point nose and the hull in single concave (under the paddling position) then double concave (between the feet in the surfing position) ending in V (under the rear foot).
It's a fluid and comfortable shape which is available in 5 sizes: 6’10, 7’3, 7’8, 7’11, 8’4.
We particularly like its tail which combines sharp acceleration in surfing and incredible maneuverability.

Buying guide
For whom?
It’s the board of the one who doesn't want to take the lead: she walks all the time.
It will be perfect for a pro that wants comfort and high performance. But also for an almost beginner who will find in large sizes a soft and progressive board.
Neither wide nor narrow, it is accessible with the train and fast. No need to be world champion to stand on it.
The range is available in all possible sizes: there is necessarily yours.
Either you are pissed off and you will go under liter.
Either you want a cool board and you will take it generous.
For what ?
The Karmen is the board that does everything except the Noserides.
Small or large waves, soft or hollow, Glassy or Venté, gentle curves or nervous tricks, it passes everywhere.
What size?
- The 6’10 is great for the pros of 65kg max.
- The 7’3 is great for 75kg max pros.
- The 7’8 is great for the experienced 85kg max.
- The 7’11 is great for the experienced 95kg max.
- The 8’4 is starting to draw up, ideal for less than 90kg sportsmen.
Which board bag?
What Quiver girlfriends?
Karmen is a central board in a quiver of SUP. It is self-sufficient and it goes with everything. This is often the board that we take when the choice is not clear. We hesitate: Karmen!
When the conditions are ideal for a noserider, it is obvious. We will put in the water an NFA or an even more typed noserider such as Soul or Neverstick.
If we want more explosiveness, we will complete this karmen with an alley. And if we want more explosiveness in soft waves, we will get a mob.
The Karmen will find it difficult to find its place in a surfer's quiver because it is a board that does almost everything. It will then be an alternative, but not a supplement.
What mounting of drifts?
Fine sorting is the best option for beautiful curves on the Karmen.
The quad works very well, especially on large sizes to maximize the hook of the tail and boost the Vmax and the acceleration.
All the classic montages work, no particular gain by going to exoticism. A good performance set will be perfect. Pass on bundles if you want more directional stability (control).
To go further in performance, the Toledo and the Wilson are topissimes, the Fanning are more powerful on equal size. These drifts are only sold in fine sorting set. To be completed with rear quads at retail if you want all the configurations.
Take your size of advocated drifts or just above. No less. You will need grip to use it.
Reminder of sizes of FCS2 drifts recommended in trifin
(three drifts of identical size):
- XS for less than 55 kg / 120 lbs
- S for 55 kg - 70 kg / 120 lbs - 155 lbs
- M for 65 kg - 80 kg / 145 lbs - 175 lbs
- L for 75 kg - 90 kg / 165 lbs - 200 lbs
- XL for more than 85 kg / 190 lbs
Note that before the Shape, it is the material of drifts that makes performance. Remember that the more steep a drift, the more it works. And yes a pro needs good drifts, but an amateur also needs to go fast because speed is the basis of all maneuvers.
Never take shorter, except in kite possibly.
A surfer who wants more speed, make more beautiful curves, surf more cleanly, working his speed, will take a size above the recommended size.
How to compose a quad that suits you:
In a montage that mixes sets, consider that the sides make grip and acceleration; And the rear pivot, the drive and a little grip. So focus on beautiful ears adapted to your need for power and speed.
Rear quads with flat inner face have more grip and less sliding. A more frank grip, but a Vmax and a mania a bit below the curved internal faces (20/80 for example). Favor flat faces anyway.
And too large quad rear quad block the handling of your board, giving you the impression that its "floats" tail too in the curves. Detestable. Better too small than too large.
In 9’10 the Karmen is 2+1, so two FCS2 ears and a US power plant. The goal is to get in size on the power plant to give more drive to this large board. To make it more handy, you can equip it with a sharp drift than that of standard. You can keep two big ears and mount a 6’’ou 7 ’’ click, or Connect, or Connect, which will give you more sweetness in the Rail Rail, and put the rollers automatically. The front of the central drift 1cm behind the ear tips for maximum maneuverability and 5cm back for maximum control.
Some major mounting marks:
- Earks of 115mm + central 6 ’’: not enough drive, it skids a lot.
- 115mm ears + 7 ’’ central: ideal for a Max de Mania and freedom in the curves.
- 115mm ears + 8 ’’ central: perfect turns management and pretty curves.
- 115mm ears + 9 ’’ central: a lot of drive, surely too much.
- 115mm ears + 10 ’central central: it’s too much unless you are 120 kg.
The front of the central drift 1cm to 2cm behind the ear tips.
What length of paddle?
Your size no more or less, ideally in PRO for weight. You can take a little shorter if you are oriented on radical driving. Some cut it height of eyebrows on shortboards. We do not recommend it on the karmen, and we even advise you to climb a little in size on the large boards for a cooler tempo.
What leash?
Take the length of your board: 7 ’to 10’.
Less shoulder size, a reduced diameter (6 mm) will make you gain a lot of speed. Above, you must have 7mm minimum.
Check your condition before each session and change it every year. This is your life jacket.
Equipments
The 2x FSP Karmen is equipped with a high -end deckpad of 5 mm which offers both a Optimal grip and a comfort exceptional.
At the rear, the Tail Pad 3D Function provides "intelligent" contact thanks to its groovings and openings specially designed to improve proprioception: your feet remain stuck and permanently receive the information necessary for a precise surf.
At the front, the Front Pad Ridge Traction guarantees absolute adhesion and control of surgical precision, while retaining a comfortable cushioning.
With this multi-zone deckpad, the new Karmen offers a contact that is both precise, comfortable and perfectly controlled.
The ergonomic carrying handle on the deck allows you to easily handle the board outside the water. It also allows you to get the board out of the water in one hand, which is very practical!
This handle incorporates the depressurization screw, which protects it and avoids placing it apart in a dedicated reinforcement which would increase the board. A sustainable and light investment.
The depressurization screw is automatic. This screw is equipped with a membrane that allows air to circulate between the heart of the board and the ambient air but remains waterproof. It will manage current pressure variations between the outside and the inside of your board. The durability gain is considerable, without you having to take care of it. We recommend that you never leave your board in the sun and remove the depressurization screw during plane trips.
In addition, the Karmen is equipped with 5 FCS 2 boxes (assembly 2+1 of the 9’10). The anchoring in the sandwich is firm thanks to the high thickness of our technology, therefore the most efficient and very solid.
It’s just the highest standard of drift boxes on the market. You can therefore mount your drifts in quad or trifin according to your desires and your surf style by accessing an almost infinite catalog of high -end drifts.
Leash plug is indestructible since it is stuck in the high density PVC sandwich of the bridge. The assurance of not losing your board in pebbles for example, nor to see the water infiltrate by the plug because the PVC is waterproof.
