Wing Droid Aramid

Programme
The compact and responsive wing for surf-freestyle, wave riding, and committed freeride, delivering high performance with remarkable smoothness in handling.
Présentation
The Droid Aramid 2026 is the compact and dynamic wing that excels everywhere: surf-freestyle, wave riding, freeride, or any type of riding. It enhances the playful and responsive DNA of the Droid with a premium Aramid construction, more precise and more performant, while remaining physically accessible and enjoyable to ride.
Its 2026 shape integrates the major evolutions of the range: a more curved leading edge slightly pulled back toward the tips, reduced surface at the tips, and an extended chord by a few centimeters for extra torque and usable power. The result is greater compactness, improved maneuverability, and smoother handling, while keeping the Droid’s signature feel: lively response, reactivity, and a true ability to have fun in all riding styles.
The compact outline and deep profile ensure a solid base of power, ideal for early takeoffs, powerful relaunches, or throwing tricks. The profile stays perfectly balanced, consistent, and always locked into your hands. Power is there when needed, remains fully under control, and makes repositioning across the water effortless. Heading back to the peak after a long down-the-line surf is a breeze. You take off instantly, set course, and handle gusts with impressive stability.
Aramid construction is a real game changer. The leading edge and center strut are made from this material, twice as light as Dacron and virtually non-stretchable. The rigidity is exceptional: the shape stays perfectly intact, even under heavy load, delivering ultra-precise steering and instant response. With its triple ripstop canopy, it keeps just enough forgiveness and softness in the feel, making it far less fatiguing than an Aramid X, while still much livelier than a Perf Series wing.
This balance of agility and smoothness makes it an ideal compromise: easy to pump, effortless to launch in all conditions, and never physically demanding. You jump, link tricks, surf, freeride… and enjoy a wing that can even be ridden without a harness, comfortable in a laid-back session yet powerful and effective for strapless performance.
The boom is a massive advantage in this version. Ultra-light, it makes this the lightest configuration of all our wings. It delivers perfect comfort and maximum precision. Handling is fluid and intuitive, everything falls naturally into place under your hands. You can ride one-handed, place your harness line wherever you like, and shift from one riding style to another without ever feeling limited.
On the construction side, it’s serious business: reinforced and perfectly executed seams, optimized reinforcements, and flawless finishing. Aramid brings exceptional strength and durability, even in the harshest conditions. This is a wing built to take on extreme environments, backed by responsive after-sales service and readily available spare parts.
In summary, the Droid Aramid 2026 brings the best of both worlds: the liveliness and precision of a premium Aramid wing combined with the forgiveness and ease that make it accessible to a wide range of riders. A wing that does everything well, everywhere, anytime, and keeps doing it for a long time

BOOM ONLY STRUT
The central strut is designed to work exclusively with a boom, allowing its dimensions to be optimized with a wasp-waist shape.
This slimmer profile in the center eliminates much of the aerodynamic drag caused by bulk in that area. Airflow moves more freely, making the wing faster and improving its rotation ability. In fact, with less volume, the strut creates less resistance when rotating like a propeller on a 1080, for example, further enhancing maneuverability.
Another advantage: the inflatable volume is concentrated opposite the boom, rather than spread along a constant-diameter strut. Inflation pressure acts against the boom and rider input, resisting the wind, instead of letting the strut bend downwind. Unlike conventional struts that deform over time, this design locks the shape in place, ensuring it remains true to the original outline. It’s always perfectly balanced.
The boom is essential for top-level performance. Its introduction on team wings immediately led to victories on the World Tour. One-handed tricks and handle passes have become must-haves in your repertoire, and this wing benefits from the most ergonomic, lightweight, strong, and stiff oval boom on the market.
Our prepreg carbon boom also delivers a major weight saving compared to rigid handles, eliminating two mounting points, over 200 grams, plus about 30 grams saved thanks to the slimmer strut. Every gram counts at this level. In surf and free-fly, this weight reduction is decisive: the wing remains perfectly neutral and balanced.
Flex in the strut is virtually zero thanks to the carbon boom absorbing the forces. And a strut that doesn’t bend keeps the canopy tight, resulting in a powerful wing that doesn’t flap and maintains flawless glide.
Lightness and responsiveness are always a priority in the Team Series. At the front of the boom, there’s a pistol grip, useful for keeping a bit of adjustable background power when needed, but above all for easy handling: grabbing, flipping, bracing against the board, or carrying on land.
Finally, the shape of the strut and the boom’s angling are strategically designed to sheet in naturally without having to bend the back arm. This balances the load on the arms and allows you to generate plenty of power effortlessly, which is ideal for jumps. It’s also extremely effective when overpowered: gone is the feeling of being yanked off balance, as the wing remains fully controllable and comfortable.
OUTLINE
The Droid Aramid 2026 keeps its DNA as a compact, low-aspect-ratio wing, but its outline has been thoroughly optimized. The leading edge is more curved and slightly set back towards the tips, which are now shorter and squarer.
These changes reduce the effective wingspan, concentrate the power, and improve steering precision. The canopy’s draft remains perfectly locked in, constant and predictable, without unwanted movement. This gives clearer traction, with a stable push point that makes the wing very user friendly and more efficient in every phase of riding.
The new segmentation of the leading edge controls micro-twisting at the tips. This dynamic, finely tuned twist absorbs gusts without distorting the profile. The result: more comfort in gusts, better glide, and smoother rotations.
Compact, lively, and ultra-precise, the Droid Aramid 2026 accelerates even further in maneuvers: transitions, spins, jumps, powered tricks. It combines explosiveness with stability, allowing you to go very high while keeping millimetric control.
DIHEDRAL
We believe that exaggerated, oversized dihedrals harm performance. On the 2026 wings, it has therefore been reduced to the strict minimum: just enough to draw a line between the profile’s draft and the tips, ensuring the shape stays perfectly in place thanks to the tensions.
This choice keeps the wing lively, precise, and clear in hand. No gimmicks to hide the power: traction is direct, the push point perfectly readable, and the wing delivers efficiency without dilution. Where other wings require a 5 m², our shapes can be flown in 4 m² with all the useful power.
Minimizing the dihedral also avoids the soft, washed-out feel found on overly twisted or excessively open wings. Here, behavior is direct, precise, and predictable. On fast reaches, in tricks, or when locked into a harness, our wings remain stable and perfectly tensioned, ready to accelerate, climb, rise, twist, for limitless performance.
LIMITED TIP TWIST
On the 2026 wings, the basic twist has been eliminated. The draft remains locked and the traction point constant, with no unwanted movement.
At the tips, only a dynamic twist linked to wind pressure remains. It is limited, perfectly controlled, and does not create any profile deformation. As a result, the behavior is clear, predictable, and firm in hand.
This choice provides greater steering precision, more lift in jumps, and direct traction that makes it easier to use smaller foils and boards than before.
Thanks to modern, reliable, and stiff materials, there are no more unwanted deformations: the 3D shape is mastered, optimized for maximum efficiency, power, and progression.
HIGHLY SEGMENTED LEADING EDGE
The segmentation of the leading edge has been optimized to combine stiffness and fluidity. The central section is deliberately very short, locking the core of the wing and ensuring a perfectly stable traction zone.
On the rest of the leading edge, the segments are regular and homogeneous, guaranteeing clear and predictable behavior, free from unwanted deformation.
Toward the tips, segmentation accelerates. This finer and more divided curve makes the wingtip both smoother and stiffer, ensuring that any potential deformation remains progressive and controlled, rather than abrupt.
Finally, the last segment completes the tip and closes the leading edge for perfect continuity of the shape.
PROFILE
The Droid Aramid 2026 adopts a deep profile with a large chord, ensuring a strong base of power. This shape delivers immediate acceleration and makes it easy to generate the speed needed to launch a jump or restart after a maneuver.
This constant draft is also an asset in freestyle and big air. It pulls throughout the entire jump phase: you go high, stay suspended for a long time, and lift never diminishes. Rotations are sharp and clean, with millimetric control.
On landing, the wing remains smooth and stable: the profile maintains lift, cushions the descent, and prevents cavitation. This precision makes riding more comfortable and secure, even when pushing hard.
The Droid Aramid 2026 thus embodies the perfect balance between power on demand and ease of use, allowing you to ride steady, throw tricks, or go for height—without ever losing control.

Understanding our wing range:
Which size?
Don’t overestimate the power of wings. A rider weighing 85kg will need 15-20 knots with a 5m² wing to fly at first. After about fifteen sessions, they will be able to fly at 15 knots with a 5m². And if they are athletic, they will pump hard and lift off at 12 knots in 5m² to get through lulls at 8 knots. This is a learning process and takes time. Month by month, as you explore more specialized gear, flying in winds under 10 knots will become easy.
Which material?
The choice of leading edge material depends mainly on your program and goals. If you prefer cruising in freeride, are just starting tricks, or enjoy surf and freefly, a Dacron leading edge and central strut will be ideal.
If, on the other hand, you love riding hard with a wing that pulls powerfully and will fly sky high, don’t hesitate! The UPE Aramid will provide absolute stiffness with undeniable advantages. The performance gap is significant—it goes faster, higher, and turns incredibly well thanks to its thinner diameters.
Finally, to push even further into the performance realm, combine the UPE Aramid structure with the ultra-rigid Code X canopy fabric. You’ll boost your performance by 15%, reaching the pinnacle of high-level wing performance.
And since things evolve quickly, our team asked us to develop an even stiffer wing: the Aramid CZ technology is therefore born this year, with performance simply out of this world. Stiffer, faster, and stronger. Reserved only for Pro riders and highly experienced amateurs ready to be pushed to the limit.
Which quiver?
The Droid wing works with everything but pairs especially well with a compact, lightweight board—or a Cruzader for light wind.
Here are the typical pairings:
Cruzader for light wind
Mint for freeride
Hyperloop or Stunt for freestyle
Mint, a short Cruzader, or a Lethal for freefly
Lethal for surf
Naturally, it’s best matched with a performance-oriented foil, with an 85cm mast. Ideal foil pairings:
Veloce HDW or Sirus for light wind
Fluid for freeride
Ypra Surf-Freestyle for freestyle
Veloce for freefly
Curve or Fluid for surf
To complete the setup, you can (and should) add a SUP or a surf foil for no-wind days, a kite to get airborne and probably a quiver of surfboards for those perfect waves. But if you’re venturing into wing foiling, chances are you already have some of these toys in your garage.
What leash?
A wing leash from 5'5" to 8' is ideal. Preferably one designed specifically for winging, and of the coiled-type leash style. A short leash makes it easier to grab the wing quickly. A long leash keeps the wing further away from foil drops in the sail, giving it more space to move.
Always check its condition before each session and replace it every year. It’s your life vest.
Don’t let your wing flap around in the wind at the end of the leash, it’s not indestructible! Also, in the waves, don’t hold onto the wing with the leash, it will break or you may injure yourself.
Harness or not?
The Droid doesn't require a harness for surf/freestyle as the reaches are short. However, it's a powerful and responsive wing that will be much more effective with a harness in a race program or even freeride, for those who want to fully exploit its capabilities.
Riding without a harness feels liberating as you have full freedom of movement. It’s a very pleasant feeling.
That being said, you’ll need to use a smaller wing and do shorter reaches to avoid tiring out your arms. This also means you'll have to pump frequently to take off again.
Therefore, if you prefer to ride powered up, using a harness is almost essential if you don’t want your sessions to be cut short after an hour. Setting up the harness lines is very easy (refer to our tutorials on the forum). We suggest using the least rigid and most minimal harness, with either a small hook or a windsurf-style hook for better comfort.
A range of harness lines specially designed for winging is available in several sizes:
So it’s up to you to decide if the sensation and aesthetics take priority over performance. But more and more riders are using harnesses, as the trend is towards more powerful wings and higher performance.
Windows or full canopy?
Wings without windows are less expensive, 200g lighter, and more compact for storage.
Wings with windows are safer, more rigid, and offer quicker responsiveness.
For beginners, a wing with windows is essential because safety takes priority over the few grams you might lose. The windows are not for sightseeing: they are designed to let you see a silhouette to prevent executing a dangerous turn that could cause a collision.
Equipments
Harness lines that can be fixed directly onto the boom and are fully compatible.
Our harness lines have been specially designed for this boom, allowing you to attach your GONG harness line and ride for hours without getting tired.
Semi-rigid textile Downwind handle
Almost rigid, but not completely to avoid damaging the board, it greatly enhances the control of the wing in both freefly and surfing.
The new oval stitching and reinforcements on the downwind handle anchor points help distribute the forces more evenly across the leading edge, ensuring long-lasting durability.
The Dyneema leash attachment is now located on the intrados side of the DW handle, preventing the leash from getting in the way while freeflying.
A carbon boom
Team Series and Pro Team Series wings are available only with a boom, as the benefits of this GONG innovation are manifold:
- lighter
- less drag
- more grip
- more comfort
- improved performance
The boom has become essential for performing at the highest level. Indeed, one-handed tricks have become a must. And what a boost in freedom! Our wings feature the most ergonomic, lightweight, durable, and rigid boom on the market.
Our prepreg carbon boom offers a significant weight reduction compared to rigid handles, as it eliminates two fixations, saving over 200 grams. This is further complemented by an additional 30 grams saved thanks to the thinner strut.
This weight saving is crucial for surfing and freefly, as it ensures the wing remains perfectly neutral and balanced.
Zero flex in the strut thanks to the carbon boom, which absorbs the forces. A strut that doesn't bend means a taut trailing edge, resulting in a powerful wing that doesn't flutter and offers perfect glide.
The boom features a pistol grip at the front, allowing you to maintain and adjust the power as needed. This eliminates the risk of flapping, which can slow you down in waves, particularly when surfing in offshore winds.
The strut’s shape and the boom’s angle are carefully engineered to trim the wing naturally, eliminating the need to constantly bend your back arm. This not only balances the traction in your arms but also allows you to generate maximum power with minimal effort, perfect for jumps and other maneuvers.
This is also highly useful when you’re overpowered: gone is the feeling of being yanked, as the wing stays really controllable, ensuring maximum comfort.
Quick inflation with the One Pump system
The leading edge and central strut are connected by the One Pump system for quick inflation in one go. The clip then locks the airflow between the bladders to ensure the wing’s buoyancy in case of a leak in the strut or leading edge. This feature is vital for safety.
The inflation valve on the leading edge is doubled on the strut for immediate deflation and compact storage. Using One Pump, you inflate through the leading edge only in a few seconds and deflate just as quickly by unscrewing both valves.
Always deflate the strut at the same time as the leading edge. Wings don’t like to stay inflated with just the strut pressurized.
Fiberglass micro-battens
Micro fiberglass battens on the trailing edge: light and very effective in preventing flapping. They maintain the profile all the way to the trailing edge for optimal airflow.
Lightweight and strong, they are easily replaceable to keep your wing in top condition year after year.
Camera safety loops
To capture your wing sessions, we’ve added a discreet nylon leash attachment on each tip and near the strut to secure your camera mounted on the leading edge or strut with a Flymount, allowing you to ride without stress. The leash attachment is strategically placed so it doesn’t interfere with your camera’s field of view! You’ll be able to create stunning shots and share them without the risk of losing your camera!
Repair kit
A repair kit, including bladder patches and fabric, is included with your wing.
Carry bag
A durable and practical shoulder bag comes with your wing. It’s perfectly designed with a large U-shaped zipper for easy storage, a ventilation grid, comfortable padding, compression straps, and straps for the pump (not provided).
Don't forget to bring a pump!

Is the Droid a beginner wing?
The Droid makes it easy to start thanks to its compact design and power. Beginners need traction to take off and short tips to pump without snagging. That’s exactly what the Droid offers. It’s a wing that heavier riders love for progression, especially in larger sizes, as it maintains a very compact wingspan that’s easy to pump.
Is the Droid a lightweight wing?
Light on land, light in neutral mode during freefly and surf, the Droid delivers strong pull while riding. What stands out isn’t just its lightness but rather the ON/OFF nature of the Droid. You can truly switch it from full presence and traction to complete neutrality.
Which wave wing should I choose?
Within our comprehensive range, we offer several wings tailored for wave riding. Depending on your conditions and experience, you should lean towards one model or another.
- Plus: A perfect progression wing, it’s also the most versatile in the range. It excels in all programs, offering great performance in the waves with solid power for upwind and perfect balance for freefly/surf.
- Droid: Surf-Freestyle at the highest level with this wing, which is both a real catapult and incredibly subtle when surfing. Powerful, you can ride with very little wind, allowing you to use the smallest wing possible in the waves. Its small wingspan makes surfing easier, especially with the handles in hand.
- Neutra: 100% waves, this is the most efficient wing for surfing and freefly. Light, ultra-maneuverable, and smooth, it has all the qualities of a pure surf wing.
What is the difference in pumping between a Neutra and a Droid?
The draft and the ratio are almost the opposite on these two wave wings.
The Neutra is quite conventional in pumping, with a soft and progressive takeoff, relying on a moderate traction sensation. You can feel the tips working during pumping, which gives it a very pleasant and classic feel.
The Droid is a catapult that pulls forward with an important draft but a very reduced wingspan. It pulls decisively, without any hesitation, at the slightest puff of wind, and accelerates instantly without snagging the water.
Before takeoff, when underpowered, the Neutra will give a very light pull that you'll need to stimulate with some pumping, while the Droid will always provide a firm push to initiate pumping.
The Droid will offer better performance with an underpowered board in light winds. Conversely, you may prefer the smooth glide of the Neutra on a board that glides easily, like a Cruzader.
Neutra or Droid?
- If you primarily want to surf and also send tricks in the waves, go for the Neutra.
- If you want to focus on freestyle performance but also enjoy waveriding when conditions allow, choose the Droid.
Both wings perform incredibly well in all areas, but each one shines in its own way! ;)
What is the recommended inflation pressure?
The recommended pressure is shown in the table below:
Several factors should be taken into account:
- An underinflated wing will be unstable and hard to control in gusty winds.
- An overinflated wing increases the risk of bursting during a crash and will wear out the seams and materials faster.
- If you leave your wing inflated in the sun for long periods, we suggest slightly deflating it to prevent seam fatigue.
- The larger the leading edge diameter, the greater the risk of bursting. Avoid overinflating large wings.
How to maintain my wing equipment?
To extend the lifespan of your equipment, the way you use it and its regular maintenance will be crucial.
One important tip is to avoid leaving your wing inflated for long periods when not in use! The flapping of the fabric in the wind can lead to premature wear on the materials, as can prolonged exposure to UV rays.
Frequent rinsing of your wing with running water is also not recommended. The chlorine present in tap water can damage the surface treatments of your wing. Instead, it’s better to store your wing dry and remove any excess sand
In case of a punctured strut or leading edge, use your repair kit or consult our spare parts catalog to order the replacement part.
Systematically inspect the condition of your wing. Look for any holes or cuts and repair them before they worsen.
If your wing is damaged, you can get it repaired directly at the GONG workshop by reaching out to our sail loft: HERE.
