Programme

The performance step-up midlength for charging hollow, fast and powerful waves, with more paddle power, more down-the-line speed and all the incisive precision of the Lethal.

Overview

There are days when your usual shortboard just isn’t enough. The wave has push, it accelerates, it hollows out, and every metre of paddling, every bit of foot pressure and every turn counts. That’s exactly what the Lethal Mid was built for.

The Lethal Mid is the Lethal’s step-up midlength: a longer, finer board shaped to hit real conditions harder. It keeps the Lethal’s radical temperament, while adding the useful length to paddle more efficiently, get in earlier and carry more speed through fast waves.

A good step-up has to inspire confidence without becoming tame. It has to let you set up further out, enter the wave with more speed, then hold your line when the face turns hollow and powerful. The Lethal Mid does exactly that: it gives you more presence underfoot, more drive and more authority in committed lines.

Underfoot, the feel is incredibly pure: speed, rail, power and flow. The board draws hard, keeps the rail engaged and lets you lay into longer carves without losing the bite you need to attack critical sections.

Its length isn’t there to make the session more cruisy. It’s there to surf harder. More paddle power to position yourself better, more glide to hold speed, more rail to commit to real carves on fast faces.

The Lethal Mid is the board you add to the quiver when you want to step up in serious waves. The one you pull out when the conditions build, when you need more line, more drive and more confidence to charge with style.

The Lethal’s radical feel, stretched out for the days when the wave demands more.

Shape
OUTLINE

The outline carries over the Lethal's DNA, but with more length to drive harder into serious waves. That extra usable length improves paddling, gives you more drive on take-off and lets you hold fast lines with more authority.

The board stays thin, narrow and finely tuned to keep the bite you need in hollow faces. You gain glide and down-the-line speed without losing precision or the ability to engage the rail.

ROCKER

The rocker is designed for waves with push: pronounced enough to handle the curve, control drops and keep some margin in fast sections, while still maintaining clean glide so you don't kill your speed.

This curve delivers composed handling when the wave starts to accelerate. The Lethal Mid keeps its rail engaged, flows through sections smoothly and lets you draw longer lines without feeling the board's length.

BOTTOM SHAPE

The bottom shape supports the step-up programme with fast, precise and committed handling. It helps you carry speed from the moment you enter the wave, channel your pressure and maintain control as the board builds momentum.

The work underfoot combines midlength glide with true performance behaviour. The board drives hard, holds its line and stays responsive when you need to reset the rail or commit to a powerful carve.

TAIL

The tail retains the Lethal’s radical DNA: hold, control and a precise carve out of turns. It lets you set the rail with authority, draw out your lines and keep drive in fast waves.

On a step-up midlength, the tail needs to stabilise the line without making the board feel stiff. The Lethal Mid’s tail supports powerful carves, backs up your rail pressure and keeps enough freedom to attack when the section opens up.

RAILS

The rails are thin and sharp, so they bite into the face with precision. They provide hold in hollow waves, control at high speed, and a direct connection with the water when you engage the rail.

That’s what allows the Lethal Mid to stay high-performance despite its length. You keep a sharp feel, predictable handling, and the ability to push hard through fast faces without the board ever feeling cumbersome.

Single Tab connection: simple, direct and solid

The Single Tab system features a single, extended base on each fin. This design creates a solid connection with the fin box, making installation simple, fin changes quick, and power transfer exceptionally direct.

On the water, the benefits are immediate. The board responds instantly, the fins work without unwanted play, and every input translates into drive, grip and control. This is especially valuable on high performance boards, where precise feedback is essential at high speeds and through committed turns.

The Single Tab system also makes it easy to fine tune your setup for different conditions. Changing fin size, template or flex lets you refine the board's feel in just a few moments. It provides a clean, durable and efficient connection, allowing you to unlock the full potential of the shape.

Good to know: Single Tab fin boxes are only compatible with Single Tab fins.

Key benefits:

  • Simple installation and quick fin changes.
  • Direct connection for immediate response underfoot.
  • Excellent drive, grip and control through powerful turns.

Buying guide

Who is it for?

For experienced surfers who want a board that can step up with them when the conditions get properly serious. The Lethal Mid is made for riders who want to charge bigger surf, get in with more margin, and commit to their lines with more confidence.

For those who feel their everyday shortboard becomes too short when the wave gets bigger, hollows out hard and starts to accelerate. The Lethal Mid brings more paddling power, useful length and down-the-line speed, so you can get into the wave earlier and set your position without getting pushed around.

For surfers who want a true step-up midlength in their quiver: the board you pull out when you need more rail, more drive and more presence under your feet to commit without being held back by the fear of falling.

What for?

For surfing big, hollow and fast waves with more margin on the take-off, more hold in your line and more authority in your trajectories. The Lethal Mid gives you the time to get into the wave, set your rail and build a clean line.

To commit harder. Its length brings momentum, its refined outline keeps plenty of bite, and its thin rails give you the grip you need to stay connected to the face when the speed builds.

To turn commitment into confidence. You do not choose a Lethal Mid for a cruisy surf, you choose it to charge, hold your line, make the fast sections and lay down powerful carves in waves that demand serious intent.

What board size?

The Lethal Mid should be chosen like a step-up: longer than your usual performance shortboard, but without going overboard on volume. The goal is to gain paddling power, down-the-line speed and hold in bigger conditions, not to make the board dull or cumbersome.

If you are coming from a Lethal or a performance shortboard, choose a size that gives you more useful length to get into powerful waves more easily. You should feel more rail, more momentum and more confidence, while still keeping a precise board under your feet.

Avoid oversizing it. The Lethal Mid draws its efficiency from its length, refined outline and thin rails, not from excessive volume. Too much volume would reduce the bite and precision that are essential in hollow waves.

If you are between two sizes, choose the bigger one to maximise paddling power, line hold and confidence in bigger waves. Choose the smaller one to keep more responsiveness, more control off the back foot and a feel closer to a shortboard.

What are the ideal waves?

Size: from solid waves to proper big-wave sessions, depending on your level, your spot and your commitment.

Power: it performs at its best in hollow, fast and powerful waves, when you need to get in early, carry plenty of speed and hold a clean trajectory without getting overpowered by the wave.

Shape: it loves waves with face, energy and commitment: reefs, point breaks, solid beach breaks, long fast sections. Anything that calls for more length, more rail and more drive than an everyday shortboard.

What construction?

On a step-up board, the construction has to serve hold, readability and confidence. In bigger waves, you want a board that stays connected to the water, filters out unwanted reactions and keeps a composed feel when the speed increases.

A more settled, more connected construction brings that essential presence under your feet. It helps you commit without tensing up, keep your rail engaged on the face and maintain a clean trajectory through fast sections.

The goal is not just to have a light or lively board. On the Lethal Mid, what you really want is a board that delivers stability, control and confidence so you can charge harder.

What fin setup?

The Lethal Mid comes in a Single Tab thruster setup. A thruster is the logical setup for a performance step-up: it brings control, drive, precision and predictable handling when the wave gets big, fast or powerful.

Choose fins with enough area and hold to match the board's speed. In this kind of programme, you need to be able to push hard without sliding out, engage your rail and keep control through long lines.

For a balanced feel, choose a Round set. For more accessibility and flow, the Leap set will feel smoother. For more pivot off the back foot, the Power set will give a more pronounced response. For more grip in hollow, fast waves, the Project set is a very coherent choice. To draw out your lines and maximise drive, the Wall set will perfectly match the step-up programme. For more projection and speed out of the carve, the Liner set will give a more drawn-out feel.

To sum it up simply: prioritise a set that brings hold, drive and control, so you can make the most of the Lethal Mid's full length and down-the-line speed.

Which shape should you choose?

Choose the Lethal Mid if you want a stretched-out Lethal for the days when it is time to charge. A board made to keep the bite of a performance shortboard, with more paddling power, more rail and more confidence in bigger conditions.

Its refined outline keeps the precision. Its length brings momentum. Its thin rails bite into the face. Its moderate volume keeps the board sensitive underfoot. Its thruster delivers control and drive through committed lines.

The Lethal Mid is therefore the right choice for surfers who want to commit without holding back, carry more speed and draw out their carves in hollow, fast and powerful waves, without losing the radical feel of the Lethal.

Frequent questions
What exactly is the Lethal Mid?

The Lethal Mid is the midlength step-up version of the Lethal: a longer, sharper version built to charge hollow, fast and powerful waves with more paddle power, more down-the-line speed and more hold.

Who is the Lethal Mid for?

It is aimed at experienced surfers who want to keep a radical approach in proper conditions. This is a board for those who want to commit harder, put more rail in and surf with more confidence when the waves start to build.

What’s the difference compared with a classic Lethal?

The classic Lethal stays shorter, more direct and better suited to high-performance waves of a more standard size. The Lethal Mid adds useful length to paddle better, get in earlier, carry more speed and keep more presence in bigger waves.

Is it an easy board?

No, this is not a comfort board. The Lethal Mid gives you more paddle power and more margin on take-off, but it remains a precise, incisive and committed board, built for surfers who know how to make the most of speed and the rail.

Why choose a step-up midlength?

Because in serious waves, an everyday shortboard can lack length, paddling power and hold. The step-up midlength format lets you get into the wave earlier, carry more speed and commit to cleaner lines with more confidence.

What kind of waves does the Lethal Mid work best in?

It performs at its best in hollow, fast, powerful and solid waves: reefs, point breaks, serious beach breaks or long, fast faces. It’s made for the days when you need more rail, more drive and more authority than with a classic shortboard.

Should you choose it with plenty of volume?

No. The Lethal Mid draws its efficiency from its length, refined outline and thin rails, not from excessive volume. Oversizing it too much would take away the bite and precision you want in hollow waves.

Which fin setup should you use?

The Lethal Mid comes set up as a Single Tab thruster. The thruster delivers the control, drive and precision needed to hold fast lines, engage the rail and stay in command of your line in powerful waves.
