Technologie Wings Team Series Aramid

The Team Series Aramid Wings are designed to turn every rider input into an immediate response from the wing. Their leading edge and central strut feature an extremely lightweight Aramid structure that remains exceptionally stable under load, combined with a Triple Ripstop canopy that delivers smooth, progressive handling.

This technology comes directly from the development of our competition wings. Shapes, materials, fiber orientations and assembly methods are tested together by our R&D team, engineers and Team riders to make the most of Aramid's properties without simply making the wing stiffer. The goal is to precisely control how the structure behaves under load, delivering speed, pumping efficiency, precision and responsiveness while maintaining excellent performance across a wide range of conditions.

Our expertise also extends to the industrial production of this technology. Assembly methods have been developed and tested on tensile testing machines, then validated on the water at the highest level. Every detail, from fiber orientation to reinforcement areas, is designed to faithfully reproduce the performance envisioned by our designers and ensure consistent construction from one wing to another.

Aramid: A structure built for performance

The leading edge and central strut are made from 85 g/m² Aramid. This material weighs approximately half as much as the Dacron used in our Perf Series while offering significantly greater structural stiffness. This combination maintains the wing's shape precisely during acceleration, pumping and under heavy loads.

In practice, the structure absorbs very little of the rider's input. Every pumping impulse is immediately transferred to the wing, the profile remains stable through acceleration, and changes in direction produce a highly precise response. The wing feels more direct, responsive and locked-in, especially at high speeds or when loading up for a jump.

Aramid also absorbs very little water, helping the structure maintain consistent performance throughout the session, even after repeated contact with the water.

Fiber architecture designed around the Shape

Aramid's performance comes from more than just its stiffness. Its laminated structure combines several elements, each serving a specific purpose.

A PET film bonds the layers together and ensures airtightness. The Aramid fibers are oriented along specific axes according to the desired behavior, limiting stretch in the directions subjected to the greatest loads. A highly resistant Dyneema-based fiber grid completes the structure, improving mechanical strength and tear resistance.

This fiber orientation is directly linked to the shape. Rather than making the wing completely rigid, we determine where the structure needs to remain locked-in and where it should flex naturally. Twist and behavior under load are therefore engineered into the design instead of being dictated by the material.

Geometry that makes the most of aramid stiffness

A high-performance material only makes sense when the shape is designed to take full advantage of it.

The stiffness of the Aramid structure allows precise control over the diameters of the leading edge and strut, their segmentation, orientation and how their volumes change between sections. Each panel is designed to maintain the intended profile as pressure and speed increase.

On the strut, the section shapes, rear cone geometry and connection to the leading edge all contribute directly to load transfer. This structural control creates a wing that responds immediately to pumping, maintains its profile through acceleration and remains precise during demanding maneuvers.

Triple Ripstop: Performance and smoothness

The Aramid structure is paired with a 54 g/m² Triple Ripstop canopy, used across our Team Series Aramid wings. This combination plays a fundamental role in their character.

Aramid provides the stiffness and precision of the inflatable structure, while Triple Ripstop gives the canopy a slightly more progressive response. Together, they deliver an excellent balance: highly efficient pumping, powerful acceleration and precise handling, with enough smoothness to absorb wind variations and keep the wing comfortable in gusts.

This is what sets the Team Series Aramid apart from our Pro Team Series constructions, which combine Aramid with even stiffer canopy materials. Performance remains exceptionally high, but with more accessible handling and less physical effort required.

The Triple Ripstop construction also improves canopy strength through thicker reinforcement fibers running along both main fabric axes. These help prevent tears from spreading while keeping weight low.

Targeted reinforcements where they matter

A high-performance wing concentrates significant loads in specific areas: the leading edge-to-strut connection, boom attachments, tips, structural seams and anchor points.

We reinforce only the areas that need it, preserving the efficiency of the Aramid construction.
Seams feature Insigna reinforcements, the tips are protected by 1680D Nylon against abrasion, and Kevlar reinforcements are positioned beneath the boom attachments to withstand repeated loads and protect the structure.

This approach places material exactly where it improves durability, without compromising weight, responsiveness or the intended handling characteristics.

Specialized assembly developed and yested by GONG

Aramid's properties require specific expertise in assembly. A very stiff material transfers greater loads to seams and joints, meaning their construction must be treated as an integral part of the structure.

We tested different assembly solutions using tensile testing machines to identify the most reliable configurations, then developed our own methods to ensure long-term performance. These solutions are subsequently put to the test by our Pro Team riders, who subject the wings to exceptionally high loads on the water.

The industrial precision of panel cutting and positioning is combined with the manual craftsmanship required for complex areas. This allows our production facilities to consistently reproduce the tensions, fiber orientations and geometries defined by our R&D team.

From 3D design to the finished wing

Every structural element is first designed in 3D: diameter, segmentation, curvature, profile, panel orientation and tension distribution.

These shapes are then flattened into patterns and digitally cut. The orientation of each component is essential in an Aramid structure, as it directly influences stretch control and behavior under load.

During assembly, the panels are precisely positioned to recreate the digitally designed volume. Seams, joints and reinforcements are produced using specific procedures tailored to each area.

This continuity between digital design and production makes Aramid an active part of the shape, rather than simply a premium material added to an existing wing.

Technology developed for the team

Our Team Series Wings are our high-performance development platform. They are the first to benefit from innovations validated by our R&D team and the riders who use these wings in competition.

Aramid technology embodies this approach: a stiff, precise structure for immediate wing response, paired with a Triple Ripstop canopy that maintains comfort and progressive handling.

The result is a construction designed for riders who want to feel an immediate difference when pumping, accelerating, loading up for a jump or making sudden changes in direction: a high-performance, precise and accessible Team Series wing, engineered as a complete system from the first lines of its shape to the final stitch.
