Perf Series Wing technology

Building a great wing takes more than choosing quality materials. It’s the result of years of development, testing, on-water feedback, and daily collaboration with one of the world’s leading specialized kite and wing manufacturers.

With each new generation, we’ve refined every step of production to create wings that stay true to the original design, deliver consistent quality from one wing to the next, and maintain their performance over time. Panels are precision-cut digitally. Strategic reinforcements are assembled with automated processes where they improve consistency, while complex closing and finishing work remains in the hands of experienced craftspeople.

This combination of industrial precision and skilled handwork lets us control every detail of construction, including in the areas that take the most stress. Each wing then undergoes rigorous quality control, including a 24-hour pressure test before approval.
We choose materials with the same care, favoring proven options that deliver stiffness, performance, durability, and repairability. The goal isn’t just to build a wing that performs well when new, but one that remains reliable, repairable, and enjoyable to use season after season.

Key features:

  • Stiff, durable DP175LL Dacron leading edge and strut.
  • Premium 54 g/m² triple-ripstop canopy fabric designed to prevent tears from spreading.
  • Insignia reinforcements on all seams for improved durability.
  • 1680D nylon tip savers to protect the wingtips from abrasion.
  • Kevlar reinforcements beneath the handle and boom attachment points on the strut.
  • 80-micron TPU bladders reinforced with a TPU developed specifically for modern wings with a boom.
  • One Pump system for fast inflation and deflation.

Controlled stiffness, lasting performance

The leading edge and center strut are made from Dimension-Polyant DP175LL Dacron. Inflated with their internal TPU bladders, they form the wing’s structural frame and provide stiffness on the water.

DP175LL is a polyester known for its excellent balance of stiffness, strength, and low weight. Proven in the industry, it retains its properties over time and is easy to repair with readily available materials.

The leading-edge and strut bladders are made from 80-micron TPU to withstand high pressures and repeated stress. The seams and fittings are heat-welded for lasting durability.

The two bladders remain independent but are connected by the One Pump system, which lets you inflate the entire structure from the leading-edge valve. Once the wing is pressurized, a clip lets you isolate the two chambers. This provides added safety on the water and simplifies maintenance if a bladder needs to be replaced.

Geometry that locks in the shape

Stiffness comes from more than the material. It also depends on the leading-edge geometry and how each section behaves under pressure.

We carefully tune the length, diameter, and volume of each DP175LL Dacron panel. At the center, the sections are shorter and more voluminous to lock in the wing’s core. Toward the wingtips, the leading edge gradually tapers to maintain a consistent, taut, and stable arc.

The center strut gets the same attention. Its geometry, construction, and reinforced seams are designed to transfer loads without unwanted deformation and maintain precise control in all conditions.

The goal is simple: a stiff, lightweight, durable structure that maintains consistent performance session after session.

A canopy that holds its shape

The inflatable frame is covered with 54 g/m² Triple Ripstop canopy fabric, selected for its light weight and ability to hold the wing’s profile under load.

Three thicker threads are woven at regular intervals in both directions of the fabric. This grid limits stretch, improves shape retention, and helps the canopy return to its original shape faster after deformation.

It also plays a key role under heavy stress: the Ripstop structure slows the spread of tears and limits deformation around the damaged area.

A surface treatment reduces porosity, protects the fabric from moisture and UV exposure, and adds a water-repellent finish. Water runs off quickly, so it doesn’t add unnecessary weight to the wing while you ride.

Reinforcement only where it’s needed

A wing faces different stresses in different areas. The goal isn’t to add material everywhere, but to place it precisely where loads are concentrated.

The most heavily loaded seams receive webbing, bonding, specific stitch patterns, or extra layers, depending on their function. Trailing-edge reinforcements are sewn with great consistency to distribute tension evenly.

The ends of the leading edge and strut are reinforced with thick, abrasion-resistant nylon, while attachment and anchor points are designed to withstand repeated loads.

The leading-edge leash attachment receives especially robust reinforcement. It needs to remain reliable under heavy loads because it plays an essential role in wing safety.

From 3D design to finished wing

Each panel starts with a precise 3D design. It is then digitally cut to faithfully reproduce the shapes and tensions defined during development.

Our laser-cutting table delivers high precision and excellent repeatability. After cutting, seam lines are marked to ensure consistent placement during assembly.

The canopy is assembled from multiple panels cut to form the wing’s 3D shape. Their orientation does more than define the profile: it also helps manage loads in the directions that experience the most stress.

Some areas, such as the strut and structural connections, require specialized sewing techniques and skilled handwork. This combination of digital design, industrial precision, and operator experience lets us faithfully reproduce the shape envisioned by our R&D team.

A construction tailored to every riding style

A beginner wing, a freestyle wing, and a race wing shouldn’t handle the same way. The shape, canopy tension, frame geometry, and reinforcement layout are all adjusted to suit the intended use.

Our engineers, 3D designers, shapers, and GONG Team riders develop each wing together. Prototypes are tested, compared, and refined until they deliver the desired feel on the water.

The finished construction is never just a combination of materials. It’s designed as a cohesive whole, with every component contributing directly to the wing’s feel, control, and performance.
