Perf Series Wings Technology

Our wings are manufactured in our factory, one of the two biggest kite and wing factories in the world, built to our quality standards to produce the best wings.

Each wing is constructed with meticulous attention to detail. The panels are precisely cut using CNC technology. Strategic reinforcements are sewn together by robotic sewing machines, ensuring perfect assembly even in large quantities. The final sealing is done by hand, carried out by top-tier professionals in the kite industry. Lastly, each wing goes through rigorous quality control, including a 24-hour inflation test.

The materials we use for our wings are some of the finest available. While performance is our primary focus, we also prioritize durability, reparability, and the use of proven materials that have stood the test of time.

  • Leading edge and strut made from very rigid and durable DP175LL Dacron.
  • High-end triple Ripstop canopy with tear-resistant properties, 54g/m².
  • Insigna reinforcements on all seams for enhanced durability.
  • Tips Saver in 1680D Nylon to prevent wear from friction on the tips.
  • Kevlar reinforcements under the handle/boom attachments on the strut.
  • 80-micron thick TPU bladders reinforced with TPU, specially developed TPU for modern wings with integrated booms.
  • One Pump system for quick inflation and deflation.

Rigidity

The structure of our wings is composed of a leading edge and a central strut in Dacron DIMENSION POLYANT DP175LL which form a rigid skeleton when the internal TPU bladders are inflated.

Dacron DP175LL is a very durable and very rigid polyester fabric, and this particular variant is also light. A true world reference for Dacron, it is the most proven material on the market. It is perfect for giving excellent performance for as long as possible. It is also easy to find for discreet repairs.

The rigidity of the structure is ensured by bladders in the leading edge and in the central batten. Our bladders are made of 80 microns thick TPU for added strength. The tubes themselves and all the accessories are heat-sealed to withstand significant pressures.

The structure is made up of two independent bladders: one for the leading edge and one for the batten. Connected by the One Pump system, you can inflate them simultaneously thanks to the valve on the leading edge. The One Pump clip separates the airflow between the two bladders at the end of inflation. You thus benefit from a double chamber of safety when sailing and an ease of replacement if necessary.

Structure

To reinforce the rigidity of the structure, we worked on the longitudinal and volumetric dimensions of the sections of leading edge Dacron DP175LL panels. In the center, the sections are reduced and with a large diameter, the closer you get to the tips, the thinner the leading edge becomes to reinforce the rigidity of the arc of the wing.

Being the control area of the wing, the central strut has also undergone major transformations to stiffen the structure of the wing. The assembly technology for the strut is the same as the one used for the leading edge, with specially reinforced seams to ensure material hold in all conditions.

Our expectations are clear: a very rigid, resistant and light structure.

Spinnaker fabric

We dress the structure of the wing with a 50g/m² spinnaker canvas, so very light, but weaved in triple ripstop to stiffen and strengthen it. Three large-diameter fibers reinforce the fabric at regular intervals and in two 90° axes. This mesh will stop the tears and prevent them from spreading. But it will also lock the deformations of the fabric to guarantee the stability of the shape when sailing.

This fabric is coated with a protective layer that forms a near impermeable barrier to air and protects it from the sun and humidity so that it lasts as long as possible. This surface treatment also has a water-repellent effect to repel water on the spinnaker instantly and lighten the wing when sailing.

Reinforcements

Wing foiling is an extreme sport, and the equipment is subjected to significant stresses. To ensure durability and reliability, reinforcements have been integrated throughout the wing:

  • The seams exposed to these stresses are reinforced with additional straps sewn into the seam, adhesives, specific stitching, and multiple layers, among other techniques.
  • The seams of the trailing edge reinforcements are sewn using a CNC machine, ensuring perfect consistency in the stitching and curves, providing an ideal distribution of forces.
  • The tips of the leading edge and the central strut are double-layered with a thick, durable Nylon fabric for enhanced strength.
  • The leash attachment on the leading edge is reinforced even more than the attachment points for the bridles on a kite. It is extremely strong, as it is crucial to prevent failure in this area, which could lead to catastrophic wing damage.

Assembly

The panels are cut using CNC machines, ensuring absolute precision to guarantee a 100% faithful shape to our 3D design.

Our large laser cutting platform combines precision with speed to achieve results that meet our high standards.

Once cut, the stitching lines are drawn on each panel. The overlap of stitching lines from two panels ensures that 100% of our wings are identical to the original model and to each other. With stitching accuracy down to a fraction of a millimeter, no variation is possible. This guarantees that you receive exactly the wing our designers have created.

The assembly of the panels involves a series of sometimes very complex stitches. While flat seams in the canopy are straightforward, certain assemblies, such as the strut, must be sewn with specific techniques to withstand the sport's demands.

The canopy is an assembly of ripstop panels that define the wing's profile, with cuts precisely designed in the 3D software, SurfPlan. These cuts are necessary to create a 3D shape from a "flat" fabric, but they also serve to stiffen the canopy in areas where the forces are the greatest.

The shape of the wing evolves significantly from model to model depending on its intended use: ease of use, wind range, responsiveness, reactivity, and performance.

Our R&D team, composed of engineers, 3D designers, our shaper, and the GONG Team, work together to develop the best solutions for your needs.

One wing, 3 handles systems

This wing is equipped with our ingenious GFS feature (GONG Fastening System) of interchangeable handles, allowing you to change the handles according to your preferences and your program, as well as according to the conditions.

With just two turns of a key, you can upgrade your wing based on your needs, switching from your handles supplied with your wing (textile on Plus, rigid on Neutra and Droid) to the other handles or our carbon boom.

A true innovation designed to enhance your experience, enabling you to adapt your wing to your skill level, your sensations, and the type of session.
