GONG renews its range of Full Carbon monobloc masts, with the arrival of an 85cm mast, in addition to the 70 and 100cm. The hydrodynamics have been rethought to improve performance to give you the best possible riding experience.

Innovations

This newFull Carbon Monobloc Masts range is designed for experienced riders. To offer them the best of the best, the R&D Team of GONG redesigned the hydrodynamic with perfectly profiled connections to reduce drag. Less disturbance and more speed at the key. But also it provides a lot more stiffness thanks to extended fillets.

 

To gain rigidity, the thickness of the masts has been increased by a few millimeters. Numerous tests have shown that this additional drag is largely compensated for by a stiffness that boosts speed and dynamic. This stiffness eliminates all piloting blur: the foil is lively and ultra accurate.

To remove any twisting of the mast for the strong riders, the profile of the mast has been widened. To keep a good Vmax, the lower part of the mast remains thinner than the upper part. The shape of the profile remains our magic profile because this gain in width goes hand in hand with the gain in thickness. Note that we also gain a bit of drive with this little extra chord width on the mast, asserting the trajectories a bit more.   Clear benefits Whatever the sport practiced (surf foil, SUP foil, Wing foil or kite foil), the advantages of this monobloc mast are clear: – More dynamism with a 100% carbon Prepreg draping. – More stiffness thanks to the single pass high pressure molded monobloc . – No possible looseness between the parts thanks to the monobloc concept. – Significant weight saving with our floating foam mast. – Simple maintenance, repairs possible, and easily replaceable inserts.

Technology

Note that GONG is at the forefront of Foil development. We were at the origin of the creation of the largest Foil factory that produces the major brands today. We develop all our products according to the rules of the art, with state-of-the-art 3D software, countless tests and a team at the highest level. This is what allows us to offer low prices and refined products : we know what we do from A to Z.

This monobloc mast is produced at high pressure in a mould weighing more than 400kg. More than 4 hours are necessary to arrange the 50 layers for the mast and the 155 layers for the fuselage in perfect order. Finally, it is rolled in the heating press to compress it to 120 tons and bake it at 155°. A mast of rare stiffness will come out of it. Indeed, One of the great intrinsic advantages of carbon is its incredible rigidity. So, it’s not necessary to put as much material as others materials. In this way, we save a significant weight loss, almost 30% compared to aluminium. And more significant than the measured weight, the dynamism brings a sensation of liveliness and therefore incredible lightness.

The uses

The 70cm:

• In Surf Foil / SUP Foil: this is the key size. Absolutely perfect for the pursuit of performance.
• In Downwind: excellent choice which bring control and maneuverability.
• In Wing: perfect for shallow water spots.
• In Kite Foil: useful in waves in shallow water.

  The 85cm:

• In Surf Foil / SUP Foil: it’s really big when rowing and not really pleasant in rail to rail.
• In Downwind: this is the perfect size for a high level of performance.
• In Wing: perfect for shallow water spots, freestyle, jumps, waves and control.
• In Kite Foil: useful in waves in shallow water, and very versatile. The size that do it all.

  The 100cm:

• In Surf Foil / SUP Foil: to forget except in tow in big waves.
• In Downwind: it’s a little too big, very technical.
• In Wing: perfect for going fast, never touching the water, performances max. What comfort!
• In Kite Foil: parfait pour aller vite, pour ne jamais toucher l’eau, maximum performance. What comfort!
