Re-entry

The Re-entry is a must have move.

It consists of projecting yourself up a section of foam that’ coming towards you and coming down cleanly, either to finish a wave that is closing out or to link a bottom turn and pass through this section of foam.

Ideally you want to do this with speed.

If the wave is soft, the foam will be even more so. So, take the lead by choosing a suitable path. On a punchy wave you can search high and project the board up and the impact will force you down again. On a softer wave, it’s better to simply get on the foam and get off without much fuss.

The keys of the Re-Entry are:

  • To arrive with speed, as much as you can in any case.
  • Attack it with legs flexed to keep some margin in case of any destabilization.
  • Adapt your trajectory with the power of the wave so you don’t get stuck at the top.
  • Introduce the hull to the lip and the foam, not the rail.
  • Stay firm and directive but flexible if the foam is high because it is not a smooth surface and you will be guiding the board down this bumpy road.
  • Attack it even faster and you’ll catch some air for sure 😉
