Airton Cozzolino lived a memorable weekend during the final stage of the Kitesurf World Tour season, where he brilliantly rounded off his first season with GONG by finishing third in the world rankings.

Suspense ahead of the competition

The excitement was palpable before the event kicked off. Airton, the defending champion, knew he had to give it his all to defend his position, especially after a season marked by ups and downs. The rise of contenders such as Gabriel Benetton and Guilly Brandao added further pressure. The atmosphere at Ibiraquera was electric, with fans eager to see if Airton could overcome these challenges.

Competition time

From the very first heats, Airton showed unwavering determination, qualifying with an impressive score of 14.16. Building on this first performance, he then dominated his heat against Woodley Hall with a solid score of 13.54, propelling him into the quarter-finals.

However, Airton's progression took an unexpected turn in the quarter-finals. Up against a resolute Guilly Brandao, he gave it his all but was unfortunately eliminated. This defeat put an end to his title hopes, but he showed exemplary determination throughout the season.

A promising final ranking

Despite this elimination in the quarter-finals, Airton managed to secure third place in the final world rankings, highlighting his consistency and talent in facing the diverse challenges of his first season with us. A huge bravo to him for braving the storms of this season and proving that he's one of the best. Congratulations also to Gabriel Benetton and Matchu Lopes on their well-deserved world titles.
