TEAM NEWS: SECOND PLACE IN TÜRKIYE FOR JULIEN RATTOTTI
The season kicked off last week on the WingFoil Racing circuit with the GONG team pumped and ready!
The WingFoil Racing circuit focuses entirely on racing, tactics, and speed. The courses in the initial rounds are varied, featuring long-distance races where pure speed is crucial. On this circuit, there are no freefly sections where the sport's pumping aspect is considered. The wing stays in hand, and the competitors give it their all!

In this first event of the year, the GONG team was represented by Bastien Escofet, Francesco Cappuzzo, and Julien Rattotti, who secured 3 out of 4 spots in the Freefly-Slalom circuit final in Leucate, including a win for Francesco. This incredible performance was nearly matched as the GONG team took 2 out of 4 spots in the final race determining the top 4, with Julien Rattotti achieving a remarkable second place due to his consistency over the 4 days of competition. He finished just behind the reigning World Champion, Mathis Ghio, who started the season as he ended it. The final four also included Italians Alessandro Tomasi and our team rider Francesco Cappuzzo, who finished 4th.
The event took place at the Urla spot, where the waters of the Aegean and Icarian Seas meet, just a stone's throw from the city of Izmir. It was marked by highly varied conditions that sometimes surprised the competitors. For instance, in the long-distance race, the wind picked up just before the start. Competitors had to complete the 30 km course fully powered up with 5.5, 6.0, and even 6.5 wings. After 40 minutes, Julien Rattotti crossed the finish line with a Pulse DP UPE Aramid in second place, indicating his final result in the event, closely trailing the 2023 champion.

Congratulations to all competitors for their performances in the challenging conditions this week, varying from very light to very strong winds.
