Tough Conditions, Strong Performances
Despite light winds and challenging swell conditions, the riders put on an impressive display of skill and endurance. Here’s what they had to say about their experience:
Hugo – Pushing Through Light Wind Challenges
"The wind was light, with big swells on the first day, making it the toughest part of the competition. Racing in below 8-knot conditions on a long-distance course was brutal—I had to pump a lot to stay on foil, pushing both my fitness and technical skills. In the third race, while leading, I dropped off foil due to a wind lull and big swells but managed to fight back to finish second overall."

Hayley – Aiming for Perfection
"The biggest challenge for me was trying to win as many races as possible while juggling work commitments, which made it impossible for me to attend all the heats. I won 4 out of 5 races by making smart equipment choices and pushing myself hard, but it wasn’t quite enough to take the overall win. I learned a lot and realized I need to refine my super light wind skills—something crucial for racing in Hong Kong."

Charlie – Mastering the Elements
"Racing in Stanley is always tricky, with the mountains affecting the wind and strong currents adding another layer of difficulty. The key was staying in the wind patches and conserving energy strategically. Picking the right equipment is crucial—I hope to gain more experience and improve my decision-making for future competitions. It’s exciting to see more people getting into racing in Hong Kong, and I hope to see the competition scene grow even further."
