GONG Team Ready to Defend Title in Freefly-Slalom at GWA Wingfoil World Cup France 16-21 April, 2025 | Mondial du Vent, Leucate-La Franqui

The GONG team heads confidently into the 2025 GWA Wingfoil World Cup at the legendary Mondial du Vent in Leucate, France, ready to defend its world title in Freefly-Slalom and aiming for top honors in Surf-Freestyle.

Wing foiler: Bastien, GONG team rider, riding a Droid SP Aramid CZ.

In Surf-Freestyle, the team lines up strongly, anchored by Malo Guénolé, the 2022 World Champion, known for his innovative and powerful style. He is joined by experienced riders Francesco Cappuzzo, Bastien Escofet, and Clément Hamon, each capable of delivering podium-worthy performances and prepared to challenge fiercely in the strong conditions Leucate is known for.

Three in row for Francesco?

Francesco Cappuzzo, the current and reigning Freefly-Slalom World Champion, will compete alongside teammate Bastien Escofet on the Slalom tour. Both riders have proven their speed and consistency, and Cappuzzo aims to start his campaign towards an unprecedented third consecutive title in style. The GONG team notably dominated the 2024 Freefly-Slalom rankings, securing an impressive clean sweep with riders finishing in 1st, 2nd, and 3rd positions in the world rankings.

On the women's side, Charlotte Baruzzi will proudly represent GONG in both the Surf-Freestyle and Freefly-Slalom disciplines. Baruzzi, known for her tenacity and skill, aims to make a significant impact amid an increasingly competitive women's field, where rivalries and talent have surged, intensifying the challenge.

With the weather forecasts predicting powerful Tramontana winds, notorious for their intensity and consistency, conditions at Leucate are expected to play perfectly into the strengths of the experienced GONG athletes.
