Second double podium for GONG in one week: Francesco takes the win, Bastien finishes second in the championship!
The Fuerteventura stop of the 2025 GWA Wingfoil World Cup has just wrapped up, and it’s another outstanding performance from Team GONG. In the FreeFly-Slalom discipline, our riders followed in the footsteps of Benji and Malo in Surf-Freestyle by securing a double podium! Francesco Capuzzo claimed victory, and Bastien Escofet delivered an excellent second-place finish.
This event marked the second stop of the three-event FreeFly-Slalom season, and with no discards allowed, every result counted heavily toward the championship standings. The pressure was on—especially in Fuerteventura’s variable but lighter-than-usual wind conditions.

Francesco and Bastien take control of the elimination rounds
After seven fiercely contested elimination rounds, our team riders finished at the top of the provisional leaderboard, each securing a race win in the final two rounds. In the last race of the day, Francesco once again showcased his dominance, leading from start to finish to earn a star next to his name for the grand final—a crucial advantage that means his rivals must beat him twice to claim the overall victory.
Main final results
The men’s main final featured a top-tier lineup, with Francesco and Bastien advancing directly from the earlier rounds. They were joined by Julien Rattotti and Riccardo Zorzi, who fought their way through a highly competitive bracket. Francesco and Bastien surged ahead from the start, with Francesco maintaining his lead through the pump section, while Bastien fended off the chasing pack to secure second place.
