TEAM NEWS: ANOTHER FINAL IN BRAZIL FOR FRANCESCO
Francesco Cappuzzo ends the season on a high note with a second place on the Wing Foil Racing tour!
After two unusually calm days in Jericoacoara, the wind kicked back in for the awarding of the Golden Tickets on Saturday, December 7th. Semi-finals A and B, to determine the two riders who would join Kamil Manowiecki and Francesco in the final, were held in great conditions with 20 knots of wind. Kamil and Francesco had qualified directly after dominating the first day. In the first semi-final, our team rider Julien Rattotti needed to beat world champion Mathis Ghio twice to qualify. On the other hand, Mathis Ghio only needed one race win to reach the final, which he managed to achieve right from the first race. A disaster for Julien, who was still virtually the vice-world champion, as he saw his direct competitors in the overall standings move ahead of him. He finished 5th in this event and ended up just outside the world podium in 2024.
In the other semi-final, Bastien Escofet, who, like Mathis, only needed to win one heat to qualify for the final, narrowly missed out with two second-place finishes behind Nicolo Spanu. The Italian made an unexpected comeback, securing 3 heat wins to claim the last spot in the final, alongside Kamil, Francesco, and Mathis.

A final with no major shake-up.
While semi-final B had an absolutely incredible outcome with Nicolo Spanu’s comeback, the final is a victory lap for the finalists who cross the finish line in the order of their event ranking.
Kamil wins, becoming the vice-world champion, and confirms that he will be a contender for the title in 2024. Just like our team rider Francesco, freshly crowned World Champion in Freefly-Slalom, who finishes ahead of 2024 Racing World Champion Mathis Ghio. This result places him on the World Wing Foil Racing podium using 100% GONG equipment offered in our shop, or soon to be available! We’ll share more details with you shortly!
