TEAM NEWS: A 3-WAY FINAL IN FUERTEVENTURA!

On a tear all the way to the semis, Malo Guénolé was forced to withdraw from the event, missing an exciting final heat that was just minutes away.
Though he was in sparkling form with tricks that were both innovative and radical, all executed with amplitude, style and precision, Malo got surprised on a blind trick during the semi-final, landing with all his weight on his arm. A crash that came with significant pain for our team rider, fearing a serious injury. Quickly assisted by a jet-ski then on the beach by his teammates and the rescue teams, Malo had to let the semi-final finish without him. At the hospital, he got the news that the worst case scenario of a serious injury was off the table. Which would have been a heartbreak for an athlete of his temperament. He got out of the hospital with a dislocated shoulder which fortunately will not end his season. Our team rider, barely 19 years old, absolutely wants to end the Surf-Freestyle year with a third consecutive victory in Brazil and to win the World Champion title in Wave, where he currently leads the ranking.
We would like to thank once again all the people who intervened to support and take care of him.

A three-way final
At the end of this second day it is the American who edges out Axel by less than a point, followed by Xavi on the last step of the podium. Hats off to all competitors for their performances which require talent, of course, and a huge deal of commitment which, as the Malo incident reminds us, is not without consequences. So this might be a good opportunity to remind everyone that helmets and impact vests can matter. So we highly recommend them whatever your level ;-)
