The leaps forward as a beginner in wing foiling can be spectacular if the conditions are right and you have the proper gear!
The speed of your progress in winging directly reflects the conditions in which you started. If, like in this session, you begin on a perfectly flat spot with a steady 15 to 20 knots using a 5m wing—the recommended size for beginners— you can be sure the "novice" label won’t stick with you for long!
The choice of equipment is just as important. When starting out, it’s rare to choose gear that’s "too easy". Giving yourself comfort and taking it step by step is a recipe for success.
If you have no experience with foiling, yet alone sailing, spending time navigating on the water is very educational. Everything you learn on the water, in terms of handling the wing and performing maneuvers, will be exactly the same when you eventually take flight. This allows you to develop automatic responses without the added distraction of the foil. Less stress leads to a smoother progression.
Learning becomes much easier, making it more enjoyable when you move on to flying over the water!
