NEWS: WORLD WATER DAY

Since 1993, March 22 has been declared World Water Day by the United Nations.
Thirty years later, bringing awareness to water-related challenges is more relevant than ever. Water crises are on the rise and we are all concerned. We are therefore joining the movement by relaying the message of the United Nations, raising awareness on this issue and explaining how we can all take part: Here’s how you can act.

As boardsport enthusiasts, we recommend sparing use of water to maintain your gear. As a reminder, it is not useful to rinse your boards, your foils, your wings, your kites, your kite bars after each session. It is way more important not to expose them to the sun or to let them heat up in the greenhouse effect of the car. Salty water on your wings, kites and kite bars will block mold growth. There is therefore no absolute need to rinse this equipment which will not suffer any degradation if stored this way. For your wetsuit, you basically have to rinse the zip if you use it several times a week. If you only use it once a month, then a thorough rinse after each use is recommended for storage.
To rinse off after your session, prefer a container with a moderate flow. That is to say a small opening, for instance a shower head on a portable shower, rather than a jerrycan of water… Your water consumption will be considerably reduced. To hydrate yourself, prefer a reusable bottle with tap water because plastic residues parasitize the entire water chain up to our spots. Removing micro plastics from water is a nightmare. So less plastic means less energy consumption to clean water.
