NEWS: THE NEW 2024 SHAPES!

Thanks to fully redesigned or boosted shapes, the wings of the 2024 Perf Series collection have reached a stunning level of performance!

The three world titles clinched during the recent Canary Islands leg, illustrated the leap in performance that allowed our team riders to occupy the front stage on the world tour events.

The challenge:

Reach the highest level and transfer this mastery to the Perf Series collection which must remain accessible in terms of feeling and price. A real GONG equation! These new shapes combine control, balance, power, fluidity and maneuverability.

Here’s how the shapes have evolved:

• Plus: almost completely but keeping the DNA of this best seller which has taught countless wingers how to fly 😉
• Droid: It’s completely new. A whole different wing. Freestyle has radically evolved and everything had to be redesigned on the basis of a rounder wing.
• Neutra: this mature wing dedicated to surfing and 2022 World Champion in Surf/freestyle underwent discreet but important shape adjustments that made it the 2023 Big Air World Champion!!! And that’s just the beginning 😉

We explain everything in detail below.

The new shape of the Plus

The Plus is the most versatile wing to date: ideal for beginners but also very efficient for all thanks to its forgiving shape. And its handles, now adaptable to rigid handles or a boom, make it even more scalable than before.

Here are the evolutions of the 2024 shape that lead to a wing with more torque at low speeds and fluidity in maneuvers:

• Less aspect ratio for a more compact and torquey wing which facilitates take-off and boosts maneuverability.
• A wingspan reduced by 5cm to make pumping easier and more intuitive, keeping the tips away from the water.
• The tips have been opened to release them. So we gain in rotation, acceleration, control, and we have a super light feeling.
• The rounded outline recenters the surface of the wing, for more torque on takeoff, ease and maneuverability.
• This outline reduces the surface of the tips that are forgotten and offers a lot of maneuverability with a very light feeling.
• The short center section of the Leading Edge makes the wing super stiff in the center. Its core power zone does not deform in gusts or jumps.
• The re-segmentation of the leading edge is very homogeneous. This regularity offers a perfect control of the twist which increases crescendo towards the tips. The central part of the wing pulls and the tips absorb the gusts. The control is total.
• The canopy tension has been reworked based on a partially radial cut with the addition of 45° cutouts to control wing deformation and make its behavior very predictable.
• The new panel distribution provides total power control at low speeds and perfect release of powerful gusts.
• The rounded leading edge makes the wing very progressive and super predictable. It is soft. We don’t get surprised or ripped off. It’s really comfortable.
• This rounded leading edge slightly moves the tips back, the touchdowns are much softer and late. The wing is easier to flip because the leading edge rolls on the water.
• Its draft shape gives plenty of power to pump easily without burning out. Ideal for beginners because the wing pulls, it is also super efficient in light wind and it sustains even in jumps.

The new shape of the Droïd

This shape, 100% new on the Droid UPE, has been adapted to the properties of Dacron technology with in particular a slightly larger leading edge section diameter which gives it more power. The shape of the new Droid 2024 boosts its maneuverability to send the fastest rotations. We win on all counts and it even competes with the Neutra in the waves for those who like to punctuate their sessions with all kinds of freestyle tricks.

On its new shape we have:

• The outline is as compact as ever because on a 5m², its wingspan is 25cm shorter than that of a Neutra, and yet it only takes 5cm of central strut compared to a Neutra.
• Absence of negative roach: the surface is maximized to reduce the wingspan as much as possible.
• Four large leech battens guarantee total efficiency of the Droid right down to its last centimeters of leech.
• New cutouts which absorb forces at +/-45° in the canopy, in addition to the dynamic ripstop weave which takes up forces at 0/90°.
• Tips are rounder and set back to improve rotations and allow the wing to roll on the water on sketchy landings.
• The tips are slightly open to free them so we gain in rotations and lightness of piloting.
• A rather important draft shape which gives a lot of power. In addition to being super efficient in light wind, it sustains very strongly in jumps.
• The redistribution of the segmentation of the leading edge is very regular and always with its short section in the center which makes the wing hyper rigid. This regularity offers a perfect control of the twist which increases crescendo towards the tips. The central part of the wing pulls and the tips absorb the gusts. The control is total.
• The canopy is very tight for precise control without any lag time. We have a very firm wing in our hands, like a windsurf sail.
• The Boom option locks the profile for a more efficient wing, and opens up dozens of freestyle possibilities.
• It retains its central Z batten shape, which is both hyper rigid and ergonomic, which controls the deformation of the leech. This central strut coupled with our revolutionary modular handle system has no equivalent on the market.

The new shape of the Neutra

For the many riders who put surfing and freeflying above everything else, the Neutra remains the benchmark. Its new shape delivers the performance to be always on the move and this neutrality that leaves room for pure glide and committed carves. Everything is fluid with the Neutra. Its very curved architecture centers its power for maximum maneuverability. It really does feel like it’s pivoting around a point just behind your front hand. It is precise and instinctive piloting.

On its new shape we have:

• The firmness of this new shape is felt directly on the water. It feels more powerful, and much more precise. It pulls you forward, which allows for lightning accelerations in between two waves. Firm and responsive, it’s a high performance wing that knows no limits.
• This new shape gives you a feeling of lightness and absolute freedom because the roundness of the leading edge helps to change the orientation of the wing, especially when it is held by the downwind/surf handle.
• The curved leading edge concentrates draft and power at the level of your hands on the batten. The tips are super free, the rotations accelerate!
• In the event of a tip touching water when landing a move, the roundness of the tips does not catch the water: an immense quality in the waves!
• The redistribution of the segmentation of the leading edge is very regular and always with its short section in the center which makes the wing hyper rigid. This regularity offers a perfect control of the twist which increases crescendo towards the tips. The central part of the wing pulls and the tips absorb the gusts. The control is total.

• The panel cutouts have been optimized to stiffen the wing.
• The textile handles are attached more firmly to the central strut. We retain their softness and protection on shocks, but they are firmer than previous versions.
• The rigid handles option gives a super direct feeling and makes the wing much more precise to boost your performance. On the other hand, it will be more technically demanding. The front handle with a specific ergonomic angle which relieves on long sessions and which allows a pistol grip in surfing or freeflying to maintain a manageable micro power.
