NEWS: VOLUME ON AN INFLATABLE BOARD

Among the parameters to consider when choosing your board, there is the volume which is decisive for your comfort.

We advise you to have a volume corresponding to your weight plus 30 if you are a beginner, plus 10 if you have an intermediate level and why not a negative balance if you are of an excellent level and want maximum reactivity.

On an inflatable board, the volume distribution is naturally less optimized than on a rigid board, as L’Ours explains in a response on our Facebook Group GONG Galaxy (see below). If you’re in between two sizes for an inflatable board, and following these small calculation rules, it is therefore recommended to start with the larger size.

“Be careful, the constant thickness on an inflatable board will distribute a lot of volume to the nose and tail. This will lay the board serenely on the water from front to back but give less “useful” volume between the feet than on a “rigid” shaped board. The nose, for example, is always out of the water. The volume that is naturally housed there on an inflatable will be less useful. So taking a bit more volume than you would for a rigid board is a good idea.
