Julian Novak, GONG ambassador, took the win in the U-19 category of the Course de L’Atlantique Le Télégramme E. Leclerc in Brittany!
This unmissable event for sailing enthusiasts in Brittany, took place last weekend and was once again a massive reunion of every possible way you can participate to a regatta. High-tech Imocas, sailing dinghies, catamarans but also windsurfers, kite foilers and now wing foilers, all disciplines were in the spotlight and widely represented.

In the wing foil category, Julian Novak, 16 years old, finished first youngster after 7 rounds and fourth overall. He looks back on his weekend:
“The event was supposed to take place over 2 days but due to the dead calm conditions on day one, everything was decided on Sunday. The race committee launched 7 races in a row over 3 hours of time. The wind was blowing at 15 knots and was expected to pick up to 25 knots, which it sure did. I started the first round with my Lethal 4’4, an HM92 mast, a Ypra-S S front wing / Veloce H 36 stab set-up and a Neutra 5m² UPE wing.
It was the perfect kit for the first hour, and I had planned to switch to a Pulse Boom 4m² wing with a Ypra-S XS. But as it turned out we weren’t allowed to return to the beach to change equipment. Apparently, quite a few competitors have changed equipment despite this instruction. The last 2 hours of racing were therefore not easy for me with a 5m2 in 25 knots. But overall I was performing pretty well. I felt a very clear progression with the new gear that I used, a pure speed superior to my competitors. I now have to refine my starts and a few parameters, and I will be ready for the 2024 edition!”
