NEWS: VERY HIGH ASPECT FOILS

For intuitive, marketing or other reasons, many foil enthusiasts are interested in very high aspect wings which promise more speed, glide and therefore sensations. It’s obviously not that straightforward.

The ratio that allows you to push the limits and your sensations will generally be quite far from a very high ratio. However, for specific uses, the interest of a very high aspect foil should be considered. L’Ours shares a few words about it on our forum with may be more to come 😉

We consider everything and we do almost everything.

On the other hand, we remain lucid. A very high aspect, greater than 9, is relevant in only very few cases: racing and pumping in particular.

But if I look closely at what people are doing, 95% of them will have worse results with a very high aspect foil.

So we did two things:

1/ A range of Fluid-T which takes up the advantages of the high ratio, especially the glide, but without having the downside of it (too technical, useless in freestyle, poor in carving, etc…). We keep the surface area without the need for a complex wingspan to manage, and we reduce the thickness to optimize the glide.

2/ Three micro ranges of foils with very high aspects which are now undergoing final validations and are dedicated to specialized uses (Race, pumping and…surprise ;)).

I remind you that the huge advantage of the GONG range is that everything is compatible. So by having a GONG foil today, you have access to more than 45 front wings and more than 20 stabs and lots of new features to come which I will talk about in due time.
