NEWS: MAINTENANCE OF YOUR PUMP

Sports requiring the use of a pump are numerous today, SUP, kitesurfing, Wing, even surfing, but ultimately, very few people know how a pump works, and even less how to take good care of it. So in order to extend its lifespan, here are some tips for maintaining your pump in perfect condition.

All pumps are greased from the start, but their proper functioning can be affected by sand and/or salt that will eventually get into your pump, or simply because of normal wear and tear. In order to maintain the performance of your pump, we advise you to maintain it as regularly as possible by lubricating all areas of friction with a lubricant such as silicone grease.
The points to be maintained in particular are :
- The inside of the tube.
- The piston seal.
- The inside of the pump body.
Step 1: Cleaning the pump
The grease has a whitish appearance, but after some time of use, the color of the grease tends to turn black, due to dirt that can get in, or due to the degradation of the seal. It is therefore necessary to clean it first. To do this, use a paper towel and a degreasing agent.
- Dismantle your pump by unscrewing the top of the tube.
- Remove the seal from the lower part of the pump.
- Clean and degrease the seal, the area where the seal was positioned, the piston and the inside of the pump.
Step 2: Lubricate the pump
When all these areas are cleaned, lubricate all sensitive areas, the inside of the pump, the piston and the seal. Then reassemble your pump and it is ready for use again. Regular maintenance (at least once a year) will extend the life of your pump and help the environment.
