NEWS: TAKING CARE OF YOUR GEAR

Whether it’s because of a badly controlled arrival on a rocky beach, a paddle or harness hook hit, sooner or later it’s everyone’s fate to suffer from a ding on our board. The question which arises is to know when it is necessary to fix it. We recommend taking the most careful approach possible to ensure the full value of your board, if only for aesthetics. As soon as your nail catches on a crack of the hot coat, you should repair it.
A crack in the hot coat seems harmless and does not mean water infiltration on the GONG boards which have the immense advantage of benefiting from a hydrophobic 3mm PVC layer on the WOOD 2X, FSP 2X and FSP Pro models. However, the hot coat is an additional barrier against water infiltration by acting as a pore sealer on the fiber. So as a principle, it should be fixed. Damaging your board is normal. Maintaining it is just as much. This is a good practice to adopt to make sure your board ages well.
If unfortunately the violence of the impact is such that the sandwich is damaged, paying a visit to a professional fixer is inevitable because the board could be subject to water infiltrations. No need to panic though, in expert hands a repair as new of your board won’t be a problem. Our forum is full of tips for basic maintenance and repair of your gear.
