NEWS: ABOUT THAT WAVE !

Last August, an exceptional swell formed in the Pacific, producing the biggest waves of the year in Polynesia ! Among the surfers present that day, our team riders Manea and Maceo managed to score massive rides in tow-in. When visiting us in France, Maceo reflected on the wave that stood out on that day for him.

 

“This day was exceptional. It was the first time that I had seen the lagoon so rough. When we got to the spot, the adrenaline was already pumping. I didn’t speak much to concentrate as much as possible on what was coming next.

It started off with 3–4 waves that were really big. The tone was set. Then with Mathieu on the jet we waited at the peak for about ten minutes to get a bomb. The sets came in, one, then two and a third… A mountain of water sucking all the water in front of you! And then Mat shouted at me “go! “. As soon as I let the rope go I saw the wave grow and get super hollow at full speed. I only had a fraction of a second to set my line, the right line. The feeling is indescribable, you feel very small, with the wave exploding just behind you. It reminds me of freeride skiing when you draw your line, the one that will allow you to express yourself. At the end of the wave, the spit of the wave was impressive, and powerful!
