NEWS: 99% TROUBLE-FREE PACKAGES !!!

GONG is the first brand in the world to have eliminated plastic packaging for its rigid boards. And we have seen a marked decrease in damage caused during transport. Thanks to new means implemented in recent months, the rate of damaged boards has decreased even more to only represent 1% of the many boards delivered each week!
This exceptional statistic for the delivery of this type of product is the result of a reflection which associates our product division, our after-sales service and our logistics division. At the start of 2010, we had 15% of transport damage because our methods were not as well established, our means much more limited, and carriers only did limited deliveries to individuals. We have always taken responsibility for these damages and learned, year after year, how to limit this inconvenience. In recent years, analysis of feedback has shown that most (70%) damage is done to the nose or the tail of the board. Larger boards are also subject to impact on the rails. More rarely, the deck and the hull can suffer the consequences of improper transport.
Several solutions have been implemented to ensure that all boards are delivered in impeccable condition for your next session ;).
First, to ensure a smooth delivery, the Flexi-Hex we use is from the Mid range, or even XL for larger boards. These ranges benefit from a more important thickness of the cardboard honeycomb and the batten on its outline. As a reminder, this totally eco-friendly packaging is reusable. So save it for your next trip. Second, new elements, still without the use of plastic, have been developed to protect the nose and tail. A cardboard element designed by our product division is designed to fit perfectly on the Flexi-Hex at the nose and tail. Another element works like a padded wedge in the form of honeycomb cardboard to absorb shocks on the most fragile parts. We also worked on the size of the boxes to eliminate any movement of the board inside its box. Everything has been optimized up to the use of the tape that closes your box. The use of scotch tape is minimal for nearby deliveries that involve actors. For deliveries that involve a lot of handling by different carriers, scotch tape is used to strengthen the structure of the carton. The internal tape is made of kraft paper, therefore recyclable. Plastic tape is used sparingly and is fully recyclable because when you take your cardboard packaging to the recycling center, they are put in a bath. This bath will decompose the cardboard to recover the cellulose and redo cardboard. The plastic tape is then recovered on the surface and is upgraded in the plastic sector because it is a valuable component. Nothing is lost. Why not put some kraft paper tape around the box? Because in the event of rain, it does not hold up well enough. Sorry. When a board is ordered with a boardbag, and it is a “risky” destination (that is to say a long distance with many handlings), it is put with its Flexi -Hex in the boardbag. When the workload permits, this method is also applied for shorter distance deliveries.
A quality service is built little by little, especially the last steps. Every detail counts to achieve nearly 99% compliant delivery. This very good result also benefits our after-sales service, which can provide better support if you are one of the unfortunate 1% whose package has been mistreated. Because we know the value of a good sesh, for each damaged package, a solution is proposed quickly so as not to miss the next conditions! 😉 Finally, note that we have always recycled broken boards to put them back into service and make someone happy with a board at a bargain price. Since 2010, we have sent for destruction only 11 rigid boards following an important damage during transport. On several tens of thousands of boards, it’s phenomenal. And it is also with the help of serious local fixers that we have achieved this fine objective. By building a network of ding repair specialists near you year after year, we have solved a lot of problems locally, while supporting people who do a really difficult job (we know something about it). By providing work locally, we complete a virtuous circle with our peers. The list of fixers that are allergy-free to GONG.
