HOW TO : waiting at the peak !!!

What is complex about the peak is the wait and doing it without getting pushed out of the ideal departure spot.
The wind, the currents, the backwash they all tend to take you away from where you need to be.And it can rear its head at any given time.
So on we must remain aware of their surroundings and be vigilant. In fact, the SUP Board allows you to the off on almost anything but if you’re poor placed you risk wasting a wave and a lot of energy on trying to catch it.
And after you need to deal with the backwash.
The principle remains the same for getting over the bar : it is more stable when you project the hull towards the backwash systematically in order to surmount it.
Example : if the current is coming from the right, you need to slightly push on the left so the current passes easily under the Board.
If you don’t do this, or you do the opposite, then you risk having the Board turned upside down and you with it.
Waiting on the peak when there’s wind is also complex but very amusing.
The classic switcharoo is getting hit by a gust. If she catches you n the side off guard, it can fill you. If she hits you on your right, you’ll be unbalanced on the left side and you’ll dig a rail. So suddenly the Board, being pushed from the right, will want to return to the left. At the same time, if you’re facing the wind, the Board will get pushed in reverse but will want to turn forward, not easy to manage.
The easiest road is to try and stay in at an angle between the wind and the profile and by Paddling steady under at the wind and by using the Paddle as an anchor against the wind.
In any and all cases you mustn’t stay in waiting facing the Beach as if you were ready to take off.
In this case the row will be amplified and accentuated by the oncoming wave and catch you from behind.
As you will see laters we talk about wave catching technique you need to focus a bit more the side with which you row. One must also know that the Bard picks up quite a bit of speed with just by being pushed by the wave.
If you end up in front of the lip you’ll find yourself on the inside in seconds without wanting to be there and you’ll have to do a half turn to get out in face of the wave……
