NEWS: NEW HM MASTS FOR GIANT WINGS!

In order to optimize the insane performance of our new ranges of giant wings, two new shapes of our high modulus masts are now available to you!

  The large wingspans of our new ranges of giant wings call for a flawless rigidity to fly and maneuver as if you were winging on your usual small foil set-up, with the difference that you have the ability to take off sooner than you can imagine and glide seemingly forever! The goal of a giant set-up is not just to take off earlier than everyone else, but to sail in 6-8 knots as if it was blowing in the 15-20 knots range. That is to say, sail on gear with which you send tricks without any fear of not being able to take off again. This comes with precise sensations that a mast of total rigidity can allow despite the mechanical constraints of a giant wing. These new masts are designed on the same basis as the 72HM mast, which is a reference for pumping and control of large wings. Two sizes are available:

• A 79HM mast which is ideal for flat starts on SUP foiling gear or dock start.
• An 86HM mast dedicated mainly to wing foiling, whatever your set-up is, small or giant (who can do more can do less 😎)

What’s a giant wing?

Above a wingspan of 100 cm, the mechanical constraints of your front wing on your entire set-up are starting to be significant. This is particularly the case in the pumping phases where parasitic movements are most felt in case you’re using a mast that can no longer ensure perfect rigidity. You can also feel it on bigger front wings when engaging tight turns. When using front wings that have a wingspan between 100 and 120 cm, we recommend the use of an HM mast (70, 77, 85 or 92) whose rigidity allows you to extract the full potential of your set-up. On wings that exceed a wingspan of 120 cm such as the Sirus or the larger sizes of the Curve H and Fluid H, we recommend the use of an HM mast whose profiles, dimensions and fillets are optimized for front wings of these dimensions. This is the case for the 72HM mast and now for the 79HM and 86HM masts.  

86HM mast

The 86HM mast allows you to fully maximize the potential of your large front wing during your light wind wing foiling sessions. Maneuvers, carves, and surfing without any flex or unwanted movements are on the agenda! Nothing will hold you back from having a blast with your giant wing. The use of large front wings can quickly apply tremendous stresses on a mast: the front wings are powerful, the control inputs are strong, and the expectations are high. Therefore, any deformation results in energy loss and a decrease in performance. This is where the 86HM mast truly shines: even with a 186cm wing, you won’t feel any torsion or deformation!

 

Mât HM 79

This size, in between surf and wing uses, allows you to carve with very large foils without breaching excessively, and provides great tolerance with the surface to prevent stalling. It can be appreciated in wing foiling for its low draft and absolute rigidity, especially when riding strapless. However, it is primarily a versatile size for performing dock starts or flat starts with giant wings (over 120cm span), and then for surf foiling and SUP foiling. The 79cm size is perfect for SUP foiling because boards are longer than in surf foiling. You can fly higher, allowing you to pump and pass through the whitewater without risking a touchdown when heading back to the lineup. In dock starts, it has several advantages. Firstly, for higher docks, it greatly facilitates the start compared to the 72HM. Additionally, being higher on the mast allows for a reduced pumping frequency without sacrificing speed, resulting in less fatigue. However, it is still shorter than the 86HM mast, so you can increase the pace if you want to accelerate.
