Kluber 80, 87 or 95?
In pumping, board compactness is a major advantage for going the distance. Every bit of performance matters when chasing new records. And with hundreds of pumping movements for the most enduring pump foilers, the difference between a Kluber 80 and 95 becomes significant.
- The Kluber 80 is the most high-performance. It develops the least inertia and gives you that direct feeling of pumping straight on the foil with no energy loss, offering comfort and a stance suitable for all body types.
- The Kluber 87 and 95 are extremely close in performance. Over one-minute runs, the difference is hardly noticeable. However, a larger size offers several advantages:
- Extra length compensates for foot placement hesitations. On the Kluber 80, you need to “land perfectly” from the get-go (an advantage in the long run, since you know exactly where to set your feet on the board).
- Less intimidation when jumping onto the board. More room for your feet means more confidence.
- Extra surface under the nose helps you bounce off the water more easily after a poorly timed start—especially with foils like the Trail, whose lift allows you to climb back up the mast after a touch.
- More width under the back foot gives you the option to offset your stance for tighter turns with very high aspect front wings.
In summary
- For optimal pumping performance, choose a Kluber 80, regardless of your weight.
- To gain tolerance in foot placement, go for the Kluber 95.
- The Kluber 87 is an interesting compromise: ultra-efficient yet less intimidating than the Kluber 80.
