GEAR: THE SHORTBOARD FOR AVERAGE WAVES!!!

The shape of the Alu in EPS construction is the impactful response provided by L’Ours to the lack of drive and responsiveness that a shortboard can suffer in mushy conditions.
The Alu is the shortboard that propels you straight into the action. Take-offs are early and its blistering acceleration carries you through the softest sections. It’s a board with which you link maneuvers on end because you always have drive to spare. In addition, its paddling comfort brings you back to the peak in no time for even more action. This is clearly not a board on which you’ll sit and watch others surf. It’s meant for action in a maximum of conditions with speed, dynamism and insane maneuvers.

A characteristic diamond tail
An important marker of this explosive shape is its diamond tail with wingers. This lifty tail shaped by L’Ours propels the Alu to Mach II from the first impulse. To cleverly balance this strong presence of the rear foot, wingers just behind the side fins free the tail at the end of turns. The hull work is also studied for water exits which allows you to really engage the rail.
“quad” or “thruster” set-up
The fin setup is adjustable on the Alu with either a thruster setup or a quad setup. Each setup marks different qualities of the board. The thruster promotes control and precision in vertical carves and the quad increases its dynamism tenfold. The quad is the Alu’s favorite setup because the two rear fins offer clear and precise grip to push your moves to their fullest, even in mushy waves.
The choice of your set-up may therefore vary depending on the type of wave. In sloppy conditions, the choice of a quad set-up will be recommended to gain control and acceleration in imperfect conditions. We will opt for the thruster on beautiful days when we can more easily produce an aggressive surf, with tighter turns and powerful carves. However, depending on the styles and habits of each surfer, we can rethink this whole theory!
The best way to find the perfect set-up for your board is to experiment. Thanks to the FCS II boxes which require no tools, you can easily unclip your thruster set-up for a quad and vice versa (even in the water if you are careful and organized).
Available in 7 sizes
As you will have understood, this Alu is a “must have” which will find a place of choice in your quiver. Available in 7 sizes (5’3, 5’6, 5’9, 6’0, 6’3, 6’8 and 7’1) and in EPS construction for its excellent strength/responsiveness/weight ratio highlighting all the technical qualities of the shape.
