Many of you are wondering whether or not they should use front and back footstraps. Here’s where we stand on this question.
The answer is very simple: regardless of your level, if your board is designed to accommodate footstraps, you should always set both of them on your board, front and rear. Different reasons for this:
1. Because it is a crucial sensory landmark. The outside of your back foot can feel the tip of the footstrap which allows you to properly set your back foot..
2. Because it’s a precious help to get out of the water or get past the waves in a hurry. Otherwise you will grab the board by the leash and lose knuckles.
3. Because you’ll end up using them anyway so you’d better get used to them from the get go 😉
So don’t hesitate any longer, use your footstraps. The back footstrap fully open if necessary, but don’t deprive yourself of this help. Especially if you are just starting out!
