GEAR: RETRO OR PERFORMANCE FISH !!!

When you start to be interested in a Fish, it’s because you need to discover new sensations, another style of gliding. At GONG, we particularly appreciate this style of boarding and offer a choice of Retro Fish and Performance Fish.

The Retro Fish: the Pie PU/EPS

Decades go by and the Fish is still a must in the surfers’ Quiver. Made popular by the emblematic Mark Richards, the long denigrated Fish has managed to find a place of choice in the Quiver of many surfers.

From a gliding point of view, the Retro Fish is ideal in small waves that lack the juice. Mostly due to their volume, which makes it easy to take off and pass the full speed soft sections, but also thanks to the wide Fish Tail that provides a lot of lift. The speed is such that you’ll have to do a series of cut-backs to get back in position while keeping a maximum of boost thanks to the moderate rocker on this type of Board.

The Fish is equipped with a Keel Twin set up. The Fins are generally quite short and long enough to store a maximum of speed and grip to launch into long curves well supported on the rail.

A must have for small conditions and to have fun at each session.

Performance Fish : the Fork EPS

Our Performance Fish has a sharper shape. We find a clever mix between a Shortboard and a Retro Fish. We keep a wide outline with an advanced master beam, which will be refined at the nose so as not to get in the way in the hollow section of the wave and inhibit you or cause errors. Moreover, the outline is also thinner at the tail to improve the handling of the Board. Equipped with a Swallow Tail, the Board is playful, fast, and allows you to take off quick and get in the pocket. The rails are thin and tapered, providing excellent grip for even more responsiveness.

To maximize its aggressive behavior and to open up a wide variety of maneuvers, this Board is mounted in Quad to gain speed and has a flat rocker for maximum boost and acceleration.

C’est une excellente board pour les surfeurs à la recherche d’une planche de petites vagues, capable d’envoyer de gros rollers, voire des airs. Et cela, dans de petites conditions.
