GEAR: NEW STICKS FOR DAVID!

After his visit to the GONG Space Center last month, the big wave charger of the GONG team flew back home with two new tow-in boards in his luggage in the hope to score epic tow-in sessions on the Canarian north shore!
David Rodal Santiago, who regularly scores XXL conditions on his SUP, is unsurprisingly also quite talented on a shortboard. Last year we saw him score massive waves in tow-in with an Alu kitesurf board. For his next tow-in sessions he can count on two custom boards shaped by L’Ours, based on the shape of the Atomic, which is the shortboard of our range made for hollow sections and barrels.
On these “ecological” PU techno versions, in addition to footstrap inserts, there is a reinforced construction with numerous layers of fiberglass, 4 on the entire deck and 3 on the hull. A reinforcement that also brings a useful extra weight to make the board stick on the monster waves that David likes to ride. The outline of these boards are much thinner than the original Atomic model because speed is key on this type of wave. The tail has also been revised for this specific program by switching from a competition square tail to a swallow tail which will give more control at high speed by releasing more water under the rear foot.
We hope to see these new toys in action on the last few swells of the season. Here they are during their glassing at the GONG Space Center.
