GEAR: CURVE MT OR VELOCE L FOR SURF FOIL?

You already have a confirmed surf foil level, and you want to change your front wing to increase the performance of your foil. Many of you ask us which wing to choose between the Curve MT and the Veloce L.

The Veloce L and Curve MT are of comparable size and are aimed at lightweight foilers aiming for high performance in waves from hip height to shoulder height and above.

The Curve MT: the cruves

The Curve MT is the most efficient wing in curves, especially for tighter turns and at lower speeds. Its slightly thicker shape makes it more forgiving, you won’t lose lift at the slightest mistake. You can do a snappy turn and relaunch from almost zero speed without cavitating.

When pumping, the Curve erases mistakes a little more than the Veloce. Its pumping rate will be 10% more physical and its speed will be lower than the Veloce. However, thanks to its ratio and in the MT size, it ranks among the fast wings. For a confirmed rider, connecting several waves will be easy.

The Veloce L: the speed

Thanks to its slimmer profile and high ratio, it’s undeniably the fastest. Its speed allows better performance in pumping and surfing. It’s more technical in relaunch than the Curve MT, but maintains its speed better.

When pumping, you go faster and further with less effort. On the waves, its profile with little drag makes it easy to maintain speed. You can refrain from pumping in surf and the curves are more radical and less progressive than with the Curve.

Your choice will therefore be made according to your priorities, the Curve MT is an ultra manoeuvrable and tolerant wing. The Veloce is the fastest in waves and pumping if you have the right level for it.
