The mini Simmons concept revisited by L’Ours with the Matata offers die hard short board fans an efficient way to surf mushy waves.
Surfing a retro board is an experience in its own right! It is the pleasure board in a quiver that opens up new sensations and allows to exploit small to medium conditions to which these shapes with a lot of volume on the front generally adapt very well.
This is particularly true for the Matata which also benefits from a wide and buoyant tail to propel you on any wave. In addition to its one of a kind style, its interest is to be a small board that can be used in conditions in which one would rather go out on a longboard.

The drive is totally different. It is a board that accelerates quickly from the take off, which gives a lot of boost and speed instantly. The back foot will naturally position itself very close to the tail, you can easily wrap your turns with the corner of the tail and the keel fin.
Its natural speed is perfect for surfing small/medium waves, for getting past fast/closing sections or which lack power. A real alternative to the good old log, and above all ultra easy for its size, even if you are not used to shortboards.
The Matata is made to go fast, to easily stay ahead of the section, while turning as short as possible. A shape to surf at least once in your surfing life.
