FORUM : starting out kitesurfing !!!

Didier, 54 years old, has been practicing SUP year round for 5 years and wants starting out kitesurfing.
Learning to Kitesurf demands that each novice acquires a good base and above all the rules, which are primordial, for security.
here is the answer of l’Ours:
“Kiting is the easiest of all the glide sports, but, also the most dangerous if you’re not well learned.
So the most intelligent thing to do is take a serious Kite Class. When you’re done you will still not be the most apt rider with security, because this will take a lot of experience in order to recognise the traps a Kite can give you. (And we won’t even discuss the Schools that offer you no real education and cost an arm and a leg…)
So I recommend that you approach it with a real method and it will all go easier.
For example a Kite that can pull 100kg vertically has the capacity to pull 1 ton horizontally with an engaged Kiteloop. So if you can hold onto the Kite in the high window, it’s clear that your weight won’t hold it when it’s down. When you know this, you know that you should never ever do it.
In my opinion it’s a good idea because Kiting is really gratifying. You progress super fast, and quickly start surfing like Slater (or close) without bothering anyone and scoring 200 waves each session…… paradise.
And like you said, it’s on those days that you get do anything else.”
