FORUM : relaunching the Strutless !!!

“Hello,
In response to the possibilities of flight in light winds.
So you are asking it relaunch as if it were a Kite with struts in 12 knots. But light wind is light wind. So you will have to modify your expectations and handle it with more finesse.
In light wind, relaunching a kite demands pilot skills. To pilot well you need to contemplate. It might seems tupid to say that one must contemplate, but every day I see people jerking them around without contemplating when just one well though out action would solve the problem.
So when she drops : breath and contemplate and find your best option.
If it’s on its Leading Edge :
Sit on your Board, sink the tail so you stop it from moving, put the left side of the bar on the left, take the back lines 50/80 cm up the Bar and pull. Wait for the wind to have its effect, if not you’ll pull too hard and the Kite will flip on you. As soon as you get a little pocket, release one of the lines, then the other she does a 180° and badda bing she’s up.
If it’s on her back, trailing edge facing the wind :
Sit on your Board, sink the tail so you stop it from moving, put the left side of the bar on the left, take the front lines 50/80 cm above the Chicken and pull. Wait for the wind to have its effect or shake the kite vigorously to get her to relaunch.
Two solutions :
1 / she relaunchs straight up towards the zenith : with winds above 8 knots and some luck.
2 / she gets some wind back in her and turns over on her ear : either you manage to relaunch it, or, you come back to the situation where you relaunch off the Leading Edge.
In the light wind : don’t Hindenburg your Kite. It’s like in a competition heat : focus, it’s not the time to start trying crazy things.
And think fo the download : it’s a real insurance against swimming. Make gravity an asset in the way you pilot instead of letting it become a weakness and letting it slow down your kite in its higher rotations.
Thanks”
