FORUM : feedback on 8'3 Mob WCKF !!!

Some interesting and insightful Feedback on the new WCKF Mob 8’3 that Trégor has shared with us on the Forum :
Hello,
A bit of feedback from my last acquisition : The Mob 8’3 (140 L).
For info, I’ve been SUPing since 2014 (CM 10’6 ; greedy 2 ; NFA 11, Freak
9’3 XTR).
53 yrs. old, 1,80, 83 kg.
I received a board today and I made time this afternoon to get out and test it.
Esthetic :
For me it is not the primary criteria but it is the first thing you see! Personally, I find it beautiful (blue version), and I also find , above all, that the finished quality of the Boards has very much improved since 2014 (if I compare it to the Greedy that I had bought new back then). The Glossy finish is definitely there for a reason.
Rowing :
I have yet to be able to distinguish the difference (speed and row) in comparison with the Freak.
Stability :
No problems with comparison to the Freak. She’s shorter but large where it counts (notably at the Tail). Zero difficulty in the first session with concern to this.
Take Off :
On the first waves that came up (60cm soft)…. Bingo… first take-off in the pocket! Of curse you need to be well placed but it was easy enough to get in there early just by moving your foot up to the top of the Pad. I’ve still got some work to do, but it is quite auspicious.
Surf :
Hard to say for the moment due to the conditions I had (50cm soft shore break).
She accelerates fast at the take off, the bottom goes smoothly and feels more ‘Radical’ and a shorter radius than the Freak. Backside is similar in this sense. I did find a bit of difficult handling the Board in the Foam.. Bizarre (?)…
Evaluation :
Even if it still needs pondering (only one season on the counter!) my evaluation is extremely positive. An incredibly beautiful Board, stable, maneuvered easily when paddling and at the wait, reasonable early take off possibilities, even in small mush!!
I was hesitating between the Mob and the Cloud but i opted to regroup my Quiver and in order to gain in maneuverability, and I think to get the same stability with this Board I would have needed to get the 9’1 Cloud (and in the end it would have been to close to my Freak).
I even hesitated between the 7’6 and the 8’3 but in the end I decided to throw in my comfort card and play for versatility by going with a lower volume (Waves where I’m at tend to be soft, unreliable frequency and not very high).
What I was mostly de-stabalized by, in comparison to the Freak, was the re-partitioning of Volumes much more centered through the Mob, the Rocker (the higher nose I will have to get used to), and above all the fatter tail which is pure ‘lift and push’ once the wave unfurls.
Finally, a simple Board, maneuverable, stable is undoubtably going to be underfoot for a longtime to come…
Good night.”
