FORUM : advice about jibe !!!

Our Forum is a direct link to the GONG Staff, our Ambassadors and also a large number of our clients and daily users.
It is a great way for you to get precious advice, like Otaketsup, who has been having a hard time jibing in directional strapless. A few minutes later, L’Ours, and other members to, offer up some good advice :
“Hello,
I’m still having a rough time changing my feet when I’m coming out of a jibe, but Im not he 5’6 Matata (strapless) which normally is the Board with the most lift.
It usually happens in the light, with the 13m Strutwave, which isn’t the most manoeuvrable to relaunch with one hand toeside, so I don’t have enough speed, the Board sinks a bit, I usually fall backwards when I’m trying to slide my back foot up towards the front.
Maybe I’m making the mistake of not getting the kite up to have a bit more lift but then I would not have the speed needed.
Maybe I should also try changing feet before my jibe.
For the changing, do you bring the back foot up toward the front, parallel to the rails?
I haven’t though to do a download in the light wind, but it could be a good thing in order to keep the traction.
To be continued…;)”
L’Ours response :
Hello,
What’s not good is your kite timing. If you find yourself in the situation that you’re describing, it means that your Kite doesn’t have enough traction at the end of the jibe.
So your turning radius is too large, or your Kite turns to quick.
Foot placement has got nothing to do with it. Unless it is with an intervention with situation that has to do with gliding, and not when stalled.
Try and turn you Board more in synchronisation : the kite in front of the nose.
Try to switch earlier.
Try and put you torso mor win advance.
Try and keep you weight on the Board not cling to the bar so much.
thanks.”
