FORUM : about releasing !!!

“For my personal use, in 20 years of Kiting (F__k… already!!), I never needed to release more outside of the two front or on the kite.
Releasing the front is reassuring, but :
– complicated to get back up.
– to messy if the fronts get tangled.
The only real problem with releasing the two fronts is that the kite can relaunch if it’s not under control.
All the situations that lead one to have a preference to release one front are, for me, a red flag indicating that one may be outside of their kiting skill zone.
The base for kiting security is to stay within your domain of competence : where it’s all under control and not risky.
Sometimes I see people doing just whatever, and sometimes it’s because they have the false confidence of the release. Which , if there is a real danger, will not help you at all. In the worst case scenario it may diminish the consequences of a crash.
Much like the seat belt : it saves lives but doesn’t stop accidents.
I’m asking you to put on your seat belt, but most importantly avoid the accident.
Concerning one front, or two, it is a very important question in my opinion.”
