FORUM : about Allvator durability !!!

“Hello,
I’m opening a subject for an exchange on the durability of our Allvator Foil.
We sell a couple hundred per month, since last summer. And up till now we have had very little to deal with concern to SAV (After Sales Service) :
– a couple twisted masts : less than a dozen.
– cracked top plates : less than 5.
– zero broken wings.
– zero broken or bent fuselages.
When I had originally conceived the Foil, I knew that our distribution method will make it accesible to as many people possible. So if having issues with a couple dozen pieces is a real problem, then imagine what it would be like with thousands.
So I based R&D off two words : simplicity and durability.
To begin with, the Allvator Foil is simple. Attention : not simplistic!! The connection points are got elementary geometry and of large size. Which makes production fast, and the solidity is great. No need to do 50,000 micro adjustments, you slide it, and screw it in, and you’re done.
The Wing profiles are simple, and not simplistic. My Allvator Wings are super easy but in contrary to many Foil not he market, they’re performant. What Béryl does on them is undeniable proof. Yet i have kept the thicker points that slow it down but also have two qualities : it protects you in case of shock and it won’t exploded easily in case that you bottom out hard.
Everything about the Allvator is : simple but not simplistic.
After comes durability, because our sport is the causes a lot of waste, we place the highest importance and focus on sustainability.
This signifies that the Allvator Foil must be hyper solid. To break it is really a feat in and of itself, especially on the parts that are the least recyclable : The wings. There is a lot of money spent on the Carbon that reinforces it by 50%. Many would be happy just reinforcing the casing and paint it with a Carbon colour.
At GONG, the wings are fully covered in Carbon on top of the fibre glass and the casing is enrolled in Carbon, a technique I myself developed. It’s super solid.
But durability is also accepting that some parts undergo extreme flexing and if they were to be heavily reinforced it would double the weight. So we have lowered the prices of these aluminium pieces to get a more affordable price on exchanges. Change a mast is rare, but if you end up having to do it, at least you can do it at a reasonable price and it’s noble material and completely recyclable and of value.
You understand that €399 for a Foil, is not a start-up offer, or marketing ploy. It simply comes from a designers choice who practices more than his own clients, who knows how to surround himself, that sells Direct and that thinks of the future.
Wishing the Glide sports, everything is breakable. Some are specialists fin their field. The real question is to know what happens after something breaks. At GONG it’s PMA (positive mental attitude)!
Thanks”
