After posting this morning, I dropped by the shop and jumped straight into a test of the Ypra Slalom V3.
Showed up at the spot with 15 knots… was planning on kitefoiling but thought winging might be doable.
Unfortunately, the wind dropped a bit and was very gusty. I still managed to fly about half the time.
Pretty wild considering the wing and stab size!!! Not too long ago, I’d have needed twice the surface in those conditions...
No chance of getting up in the lulls, but it popped right up in the 14-knot gusts.
On takeoff, I actually felt more feedback through my feet than with my larger Ypra-S V2.”
Handles maneuvers easily and tracks like it’s on rails at speed.
“Once flying and hooked in, it just cruises effortlessly. I had the mast set a bit too far back for my liking, which made the ride super neutral—I usually like a bit more front foot pressure.
Jibes need to be initiated at 20 knots with a hard upwind carve to maintain flight. As for tacks, I nailed 2 out of the 3 I attempted—also great on that front.
In short, I would’ve preferred 2–3 more knots of wind and I’d have been flying the whole time, but honestly, when I hit the water I wasn’t even sure I’d manage to take off 😉
That short session totally blew me away, so I went ahead and ordered a Slalom S (700cm²) to ride in the 10–15 knot range. I’ll have to wait until May 20 though… 😊
Anyway, this XXS is gonna be killer in Gruissan! Can’t wait to get it back out as soon as it hits 15+ knots!”

What max speeds have you recorded with Slalom v3 500 and 600?
The average is great but I found the XS hard to push over 28kts.
Bastien, I’ll see you on the water in Gruissan when you lap me :-)
