Feedback from Nicolas, GONG ambassador, who was able to test our new high-ratio Race front wing with which you can fly full speed on all points of sail.
“Ypra XL in less than 15 knots with a top speed of 24.4 knots on my GPS device, 23.3 knots over 100M. Well, let’s go into details. Conditions were weird today on my inland spot, moments with no wind at all, and from time to time 2 to 3 min of gusts at a maximum of 15 knots. I decided to test the Ypra XL 1250cm² / Stab Pro Veloce H 47 and I rigged the SuperPower 6m 2023.
“A crazy upwind angle, it flies…”
I had to generate a good glide with the Lethal and to be patient but it still takes off quite fast. Once in the air it is a lot of fun. A crazy upwind angle, it flies, but the balance is super steady, no wobbling, you don’t even get scared at this speed…
On this front wing you get into transition with full speed. As a consequence tacks were almost easier than jibes since at this speed we have to manage the fact that we are going much faster than the wing when jibing!
In terms of low range it pumps quite well and I managed to maintain the flight easily in the wind holes.”
