FEEDBACK: WING BOARD LETHAL FSP PRO 5’1

Our ambassador François shares with us his impressions of his new Lethal FSP Pro 5’1, which he was lucky enough to be able to try upon receipt.

“Lethal freshly received, thank you to the staff for their availability, without further delay, I had to test it immediately. There are days like this when everything goes perfectly. I had wind and waves for this first date with this beautiful board. I started wing foiling with the Flint 5’8 before moving on to the Lemon 4’11, then Mint 4’8. So I go from 80 to 95 L, with less width and a little more length than my previous one. The goal is to take off early and have a good glide to get off the water.

The Mint is an excellent board but in the light with 80 L and my 86kg, I had to go for large foils or large wings if I wanted to stay in front wing LT for example. The Mint tends to stick a little to the water without gaining speed because I had a negative volume (6 liters less than my weight). In addition, the aspect ratio is not the best for light conditions, especially when using it in negative volume.

“Volume super well distributed”

So this 5.35kg Lethal will do the job. Validated since last night in 12/14 then 15/20 knots and 50 to 80cm waves in Curve LT and 5m Neutra. I was a bit apprehensive about getting on my knees since the playing field was very choppy at the start of the session with a bad wind direction and less than 15 knots. Well what was my surprise to find it super easy !!! To tell the truth, even easier than the Mint under these same conditions. Mind-blowing! It moves very little and the volume is super well distributed. Great surprise!

There I say to myself… damn it… I should have listened to Patrice Guénolé who advised me to take the 4’10 / 80l. No problem, it will be the board for everything: light / not light / waves. Because with its 95l, standing is disconcertingly easy in 10 knots: happiness! Rise at 13/14 knots and presto it takes off super fast, fluidity, acceleration and off we go !!

Once in flight, this Lethal is really pleasant, despite its imposing volume of 95 L, it is forgotten and the driving is dynamic.

The pointed nose is for me a source of fluidity and comfort in the tacks because the board does not take the wind. Feeling also validated by my mate who tried it and told me the same.

“In the waves, it carves hard.”

You can take an angle. It tuuuuurns.

Again, the volume and 5’1 instead of 4’8 are not a problem, it goes by itself and I do my favorite basic maneuvers: the cutbacks.

I feel a bit more inertia in front because the board is bigger than my old 4’8, but after a few waves that feeling disappeared.

In short, more than 2 hours of session and when it came time to get out of the water I was happy to have chosen this pretty Lethal. The grazing light of the magnificent sunset was the harbinger of very beautiful future sessions with my new mistress.

Maybe even an 80L to come in several months, once I have had a chance to fully use this 95L. I’m lucky to have a friend who ordered it, so comparison to come! It’s the easy combo, takes off super well and performance is top-notch for this 5’1 Lethal in any case. ”
