Feedback of Michel who kept a card up his sleeve to take off with no effort when the wind conditions do not cooperate.
Wing foiler: Patrice, Boss & Shaper GONG, on a SuperPower with a HIPE Pro.
“Hello to all GONG fans, here’s a little feedback of the Veloce XXL in very light wind conditions in anticipation of summer sessions. The Veloce XXL saved the day several times already, in conditions in the 10/15 knots range that are a bit tricky.
I switched to the high aspect front wings (Fluid XL-H, Fluid L-H and Ypra L-S) with great pleasure, the glide is really appreciable.
Nevertheless for the very light riders the wingspans of the high aspect wings become crazy and the takeoff, even in Fluid XL-H, is not so simple.
I have no problem having to pump to take off but I also want to keep some comfort, so I kept this Veloce XXL just in case.
I don’t regret it because when I want to take off in comfort without hassle in messy conditions, I can count on the Veloce XXL
I just need some speed and it takes off gently, in a smooth glide.
Once in the air, the lulls at less than 10 knots are easy to cope with, it keeps flying no matter what, at cruising speed it is well set and nothing can happen to it. It doesn’t push on the front leg either.
At the end of the jibe if you lose the speed, it does not stall, it tolerates very slow speeds without problem.
It glides less than a high aspect ratio, that’s for sure, you have to keep some power in the tank, but there’s a lot more lift and power too, I think.
In terms of speed, it’s downright decent. Combine this front wing with the Fluid H stabs and it boosts it even more.
In fact if we look at the data its aspect ratio is the best of classic front wings with 6.3, which is not too bad I think. In short, for summer thermal winds, lakes and lousy conditions, etc… I recommend it.”
