The new carbon Trail Atmo unlocks its full potential in beach starts!
Pump foiler: Louis, GONG staff, riding the Kluber HDC, HM77 mast in 19 mm, Trail V3 Atmo Team Series front wing, and Fluid V3 Atmo Team Series stab.
Better glide
"192 cm, 100 kg, 50 years old. First beach start sessions with the carbon Trail ATMO. I'm already able to launch the Trail L Perf on spots that aren't too demanding. I picked up the XXL, XL, and L because I wasn't very confident I'd be able to launch this new L, or even the XL, on the trickier spots.
First launches on the XXL with the Veloce L stab at 0° on an M tail, at high tide (see the photo with the steepest slope). It took a bit of adjustment. I probably missed three or four attempts before finding the right timing. Then it all clicked. With the slope, I can launch it with a single step. The glide is better, it's a pleasure to ride, a little faster, and it feels a full size bigger under my feet than the Trail Perf XL."
A higher beach start success rate
"I simply swapped the front wing for the XL, and it worked straight away on this spot.
Feeling confident, I moved on to the L, although I kept the one-piece Veloce XL stab to give myself a bit more time. Success on the second attempt. Wow. I'd already managed to launch the Sirus L at this spot, but with the extended Sirus 50 stab and probably only a 20% success rate. It was the end of the session, so I didn't get any more attempts to confirm that.
With the tide a little lower, I had to move to the other end of the beach to avoid the rocks, where the slope is much gentler (second photo). Same L + Veloce XL combo. I wasn't very optimistic because I'd already struggled to launch the Sirus XL there, had never managed the L (the Trail Perf XL worked), but after the previous session I gave it a shot. It took me five to ten attempts to dial it in, then I landed four out of the next eight to ten launches 😍. The technique is different from what I used with the Trail Perf XL. You need to rise more smoothly, let it glide longer, and start pumping gently, but it works really well.
I'm still not 100% sure the carbon ATMO is just as easy size for size, but it's definitely very forgiving while being much more enjoyable to pump." Thanks to Yohann for sharing his feedback in our GONG Galaxy group.
